Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by bughs on Sept 29, 2016 9:48:47 GMT 1, The news appeared in Italian newspapers today,
"Friday 7 October 2 will be presented the restoration of historic artwork of BLU"
Very important news because bailouts of street art by almost 10 years ago.
Both works of art painted in 2004 in the city of Bologna Italy
"The man who dives" was saved in 2008 from demolition.
"Tank man" was saved from paint coverage in 2012.
Both works of art were saved from destruction by private individuals, at different times, different ways, and especially many years before the much-discussed exhibition "Street Art Banksy and Co."
The news is very long and are unable to translate all:-) sorry.
In the article we read that:
Luca Ciancabilla (curator of the exhibition Street art Banksy and Co) during the exhibition has known these two lovers of BLU Artworks . Luca Ciancabilla was keen to their stories of rescue, and together with the largest Italian Restorer "Camillo Tarozzi" maintained a restoration of works.
"Camillo Tarozzi" declares, "we treated the artwork of BLU as the "Resurrection" of "Piero della Francesca"
No contemporary Italian artist has ever caused such a stir, lots of love, and attention.
I hope to go to the exhibition of the restoration and to be able to post photos.

Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by Feral Things on Sept 29, 2016 10:04:49 GMT 1, Context is fundamental to street art and one of the best things about Blu's work is that it's in the street where everyone passing by sees it, whether they intend to or not. Removing the work from its street context is the very opposite of restoration in my opinion and personally I side with Ericailcane's view of the issue.
"Deratted Area. Reclaimed area for: grave robbers, thieves of common goods, self-styled defenders of culture, unscrupulous and hired curators, Freemasons, unpunished abductors of third party intellectual work, followers of the god of money and their subjects"

Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by bughs on Sept 29, 2016 10:34:21 GMT 1, In part you're right feralthings, But don't confuse rips (strappi) of artwork made to do a show exhibition....
With these two "restorations bailouts" of street art, made 10 years ago! From private individuals BLU Lovers.
Think about it, 10 years ago in Italy nobody knew him BLU, don't confuse events in 2016 with bailouts carried out in 2008.

Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by oxfordwelshchap on Sept 30, 2016 8:50:25 GMT 1, I love bologna, and Italy in general. Think I'll take another trip over in the near future. Usually pop to Florence but may change it up.

Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by shygetshigh83 on Sept 30, 2016 12:57:32 GMT 1, These 2 works will be diplay on the 7th of October near the train station, downtown Bologna. I won't miss it!
The restoration process on the shutter tooks more than 3 months, and consisted in dabbing all over the last paint layer of the shutter with a sponge until the Blu underneath starts living again.. amazed! These early Blu subjects are awesome.

Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by bughs on Sept 30, 2016 16:49:08 GMT 1, @oxfordwelshchap thanks I live in bBologna for 40 years,
Bologna is a small city but very active, and thanks to the University through so many guys from different walks of life.
In Bologna the true Urban Art still exists (the historical tag, writing, or streetart), but is often in inaccessible places for those coming from out of town. Abandoned factories, railway lines, community centers ... but is rightly so.
In some factories are still visible BLU works, even if the newspapers say that I cancelled all, ain't that the truth.
In a disuse former military barracks there is a magnificent work maybe one of the most beautiful motherhood never seen created by combo Canemorto + Borondo www.ziguline.com/muri/holy-combo-borondo-canemorto-bologna/#
The people of Bologna love art urban, decidedly less the vandal tag art The people of Bologna like BLU, and recently were asked directly to BLU to restore his works. On several occasions have held fundraisers to restore some works, unfortunately I understand that with BLU lacks communication.
But I understand that BLU is a pure radical artist, with his own ideas, and I respect that.
And this small exhibition of restorations carried out independently by private citizens almost 10 years ago, I think show that Bologna loves BLU.

Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by dotdot on Sept 30, 2016 20:02:57 GMT 1, b l u is as uncompromising as he is brutal.
i'd say a puritan , an ideallst and ... a non communicator - let's the work say the message.. or not if the wall is off'ed at his request.
when all is said and done... in 20 years , we'll still have b l u or something by b l u if we're lucky.
where's that pic of him .. from "that" book.... says it all really.
(btw spaces a b o v e due to ... some internal bold .. stuff - not really required..)

All around florence and some parts of venice are road signs with the same graffiti on them. Brilliant stuff, I spent a few days exploring and photographing. Do you know who the street artist is? I know thats a bit vague but I am certain its the same guy.

Came across his work in Florence too.. www.instagram.com/cletabraham/ Thanks bockwurst, he's a prolific artist a!
Think about 50% of the signs in Florence have his work on them.

Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by bughs on Oct 2, 2016 10:10:08 GMT 1, Road signs are works of Clet Abraham, French artist, but now lives in Italy in Florence.
In Florence has its own small great gallery.
Clet with its signs have been all over Italy, including Bologna, but also Milan, Naples., Roma, Torino..... A few years ago was also in China (as I recall) but unfortunately Chinese laws are not permissive like Italian ones. (severe condemnation) Also in Italy, Clet collect many fines and convictions ... but continues to beautify the citys Clet is loved in Florence, although his art (outlaw) often collides with the decisions of the Police. Many of his works removed from police. Remember: traffic lights turned into Christmas trees, a very large sculpture with one foot in the river.
He thinks that in some cities, police have removed his signs, though they did a public auction to sell them Personally I think this is a great artist, my favorite signs are simple, the first. Those depicting the black silhouette human.
Ciao

Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by shygetshigh83 on Oct 2, 2016 13:40:42 GMT 1, Yes Cley is very prolific here in Italy..
I recall I've stopped by his atelier in Florence, he sold his STOP sign (his best IMO) for 250 or 300โฌ..
In the past in Livorno the police removed all the signs and put them on Ebay: good turnover that month!

Two BLU artwork restored in Bologna Italy! !, by bughs on Oct 10, 2016 13:37:46 GMT 1, Hi I have personally been to the presentation of the first two restorations in the world of BLU.
A large number of people, celebrities and the merely curious.
The Hall was too small to accommodate all the people. This shows how BLU is beloved in Bologna.
Conference duration 2 hours, intervening urban art experts and the great Restorer Camillo Tarozzi.
I was impressed by the words of Tarozzi, a lover of any art form.
Tarozzi stressed the fact that the works of art have been restored deliberately without touching the colour. (despite being a very simple action)
The works of art still retain his years on the road.
Beautiful and innovative event. Ciao
