Banksy Haters, by johnas on Dec 6, 2007 12:57:31 GMT 1, stumbled across this website this morning.... never read such a load of drivel in all my life
SG07: www.spiked-online.com/index.php?/site/article/4148/ QUOTE: "However well-intentioned, the sprayers for peace who form the โloose collection of idiot doodlersโ, as the Santaโs Ghetto artists call themselves, come across as patronising, ignorant and even insulting. Nevertheless, the art is undoubtedly provocative - it really just makes you want to take a plane straight to Bethlehem to tear it all down."
Spiked on Banksy: www.spiked-online.com/index.php?/site/article/2076/ QUOTE: "But his โradicalโ political statements never seem to colonise the imagination of those who arenโt his celebrity clients for very long. After the initial buzz of a new โBanksyโ on the streets (generated, in part, by Banksyโs own website, which has full press clippings and archive), people block out his paintings in the same way they block out blanket advertisements."

Banksy Haters, by becksaboo on Dec 7, 2007 2:20:37 GMT 1, what a load of bollocks. really annoys me how when anyone writes about banksy they mentions brad pitt and angelina. as if that's the best thing banksy's done. pisses me off how everything is dumbed down and if it doesn't appeal to heat readers then it's not worth doing.

Banksy Haters, by crazyarsemother on Dec 8, 2007 0:47:46 GMT 1, Why is it bollocks? Do you really think that the person who wrote this reads heat? I think a stunt like putting a shark fin in a lake is accessible art to magazine readers of all sorts? I thought accessiblity was the motivation behind spraying your name on a motorway? That remark seems very wide of the mark to me. I fear sometimes by not questioning some of Banklsy's work this site creates an elitist clique that goes against everything the artist is presenting. In the same way so many of his messages provoke critism we should be encouraged to critise him where appropiate.

Banksy Haters, by kingleopald on Dec 12, 2007 11:37:17 GMT 1, I agree with crazyarsemother on this one. in the good old days it was just paintings on walls that raised a few smiles before they got wiped off. now banksy could crap in a corner and half the people on this forum would be scrambling to buy it (so long as it had a verified signature). The whole West bank jaunt has a certain PRforagoodcause value, but long after those boys have packed up their paintboxes and gone home locals will still be crapping in corners because their infrastructure's fucked...

Banksy Haters, by monstris on Jan 14, 2008 15:36:14 GMT 1, Hear hear. I don't give a shit if people hate Banksy. I happen to like him and that's my choice. If people dislike him or his work, it's their choice. It doesn't make them a second class citizen...makes them someone with an opinion that varies from yours. And that's not a bad thing.
