Storing expensive framed art, by Dungle on Nov 20, 2016 16:42:11 GMT 1, So I should be moving house before Christmas.
However I will be moving into a house temporarily while I complete refurbishment of new house. As a result everything is going into storage, somewhere like Big Yellow storage.
I assume that BYS is not suitable as a location to store expensive framed pieces?
Are there any specific storage outlets which are temperature controlled etc for more expensive art. Need to be in london.

Storing expensive framed art, by Viking Surfer on Nov 20, 2016 18:38:51 GMT 1, A friend of mine uses 'Momart'. About 5k a year i think. Expensive, but it's filled with millions of $$ worth of art. Would be much less for a smaller space.
You can store your Harland with me in Australia though I'll even cover the shipping...

Storing expensive framed art, by pingoo on Nov 20, 2016 20:50:31 GMT 1, Your bank might be helpful, some have hi-tech safe for their clients.
(i use mine for storing blades, which needs a precise control of humidity)

Storing expensive framed art, by sinaj on Dec 1, 2016 8:27:11 GMT 1, Hi I'm a paitings conservator and you're right don't put your art anywhere near a Big Yellow Storage. The environmental conditions would be terrible and fluctuate.
MoMart, Constantine, Martin Speed all have art store facilities. Also do most painting Conservation studios. Also you could try the ICON website.
You can also do things to limit the environmental impact by addif a backboard and getting the works packed well.
