At least its got a decent back story to it compared to most banky pieces. Cracking price too, proper banksy classic that un, looks to be in smashing nick too, apart from the black on grin reaper, the maroon on a queen vic has to be one of the most luxurious pigments i have ever seen, sheer filth.

Why not just back off the mat border a few cm? I think at the time I was researching how some people use really creative unbelievable laser cut matting and I just wanted something a little special. Additionally, if I remember correctly if we dropped the bottom mat cut down we would have had to do the same for the sides for it to look even and that didn't leave much room for the matting to overlap the print and there would be less matting between the print and the frame which would look awkward. I know there was a reason why we did it like this I just don't remember exactly why. No bother, matting is cheap and could be rematted easily if new owner wants it done. I myself like it the way it is.
From my experience, you never want the mat to be in contact with the print at all. I have found over time they do leave undesirable marks including discoloration and most commonly indentation from being pressed into the paper. If you do want your mat to cover the print edge, I recommend using small spacers which raises the mat slightly off the print. This way nothing touches the print surface and cosmetically it is almost impossible to tell it is raised. ( tip for the day )
