Banksy • Flag SILVER, by LJCal on Dec 17, 2019 3:33:28 GMT 1, One sold for £7k with buyers premium (just over £9k inclusive). After auction fees, VAT and insurance the seller would have netted around £5,850; so for a private treaty sale my range should be attractive. It should be said this was the highest ever achieved and one sold a month or two earlier for less than £5k. A fairly well known gallery is offering this for sale at £6.5k, which if I don’t secure one privately at a more competitive price in the next few days I’ll probably go for and get the added security for a bit of a premium. I wouldn't wait a few days, it will probably be gone. Also any Flags ive ever seen at a gallery has been f8cked. I know of dealers that are paying more then £5,850 for them post last week's results. Your right it is completely ;;;;, inspected today they offered me some money off but it’s pretty much unsalvagable. The hunt goes on, I’ve managed to pick up plenty of other unsigned prints for fair prices but for some reason finding a Flags in fair condition is tough.

There are mint ones out there, but tough to find. Good luck.
If you really like the image and are condition driven might be worth saving up for a Formica.

It is a great image so snap one up when you have the chance!
What’s the estimates on gallery prices and private sales currently? Interesting you had offers of 5.8 - 6k from dealers prior to the auction. Great image and mint ones increasingly harder to find.

Banksy • Flag SILVER, by LJCal on Dec 17, 2019 21:47:55 GMT 1, The fragility of the paper is the pure benefit of those that have one. As it's such a large edition it's lagged for years, price-wise, but each time one changes hands it gets opened to inspect, reframed etc and gets damage This print is the equivalent of IKEA furniture - great once, falls apart quickly if moved 🙄 I framed mine two days after the Ghetto I bought it at, and only opened it once, two years ago to photograph the number verso for Pest Control, so it's as mint as it gets Not for sale (at this point), but good luck with your search - they are out there. As people's priority changes in life, and prices steadily increasing, others will pop up on the market as thresholds get met. Again, good luck. I’m a bit concerned with the paper quality, do you think it will stand the test of time if well looked after?

The more you do with it, opening, framing, reframing etc, the more likely you'll do damage. If you choose carefully, frame once and leave, it'll be great. Glad you've (seem to have anyway) found one. My threshold for sale is 7.5; once they hit that then off she goes - I've a family to buy a house for! You may not have to wait too long, seems like a lot of unsigned prints are going a bit crazy at the moment.

It does end the conversation given that Banksy’s “worst” signed print, Toxic Mary just sold for like 35k USD two weeks ago.

For some strange reason in editions , the undesirable items become the hot collectables decades later . Usually as less sold , less left in the market as of condition issues etc . Toxic Mary stong bAnksy image

That's why these stunts are always needed every 6months otherwise the secondary market stalls!

sounds like something big is coming again in March, so maybe expect another jump in prices over the month.

Without the secondary market celebs , high end buyers , investors , speculators would not buy primary at 50k for prints 120k+ for originals , by keeping markets Alive keeps funds incoming for other projects . More of a business than a free willed renegade political artist now , pr team , everything perfectly managed ..even stopped the paint bomb release from Bristol museum that supported in the past as would effect secondary market. And the print market did lose its buzz before the GDP project .

It's not repairable and I think you need to see it in the flesh to get a proper idea of the damage. I'm no expert, but I would guess £3k-£4k.
