Bloody coffee machines........? Talk to me , by Cornish Crayon on Dec 23, 2016 12:03:14 GMT 1, So i love coffee, used to do the whole boil on the stove with my vintage pots....italian turkish and egyptian coffee........
But with all these coffee machines out there now and the touch n go lifestyle.......(Argos sale, has drawn me in)
Is it worth it and shall i take the plunge ?
I need my coffee to taste like coffee, not all this fancy fluffys**te, although I'm as partial to a mochaitto as i am a mocha........
I don't know what to do, I know its not the end of the world, but its bloody close.

Bloody coffee machines........? Talk to me , by El Pulpo on Dec 23, 2016 12:14:16 GMT 1, Keep your old Italian one, your French piston one, your rusty Turkish one.. You'll not find anything better with those new thing.. I have my French and Italian (an old one in porcelain) that works everyday and for nothing else on earth I would change !
What else ?

Bloody coffee machines........? Talk to me , by Coach on Dec 23, 2016 12:48:03 GMT 1, Very much bottom of the price range, but I bought a nespresso from currys a little while ago. It was about half price, so about sixty quid. Came with a milk heater/frother. Yiu don't have to buy nespresso pods through the post. Supermarkets sell compatable pods. I am aware that the coffee is not as good as that produced by expensive machines. But, having experimented to find a coffee pod I like (strong), I now thoroughly enjoy it, and use it several times every day. Very quick and simple to use. Hardly any cleaning. And looks groovy ish. Pods are approx £2.50 for 10. I keep a big glass jar that I bought in ikea full of them. Only thing wrong with it - if yiu can't be arsed to warm milk, in the milk warmer, then the coffee is not quite hot enough, so needs 20 seconds in the microwave.

Bloody coffee machines........? Talk to me , by J0NNY on Dec 23, 2016 14:07:50 GMT 1, www.amazon.co.uk/d/Coffee-Tea-Espresso/Sage-Heston-Blumenthal-Boiler-Machine/B00G6FVTTE I use the Australiian branded version of this ( breville bes920 ) and it's pretty much regarded as the best high street machine on the market. Like mentioned before the grinder is just as, if not more important than the machine. I pair this with the smart grinder from the same brand and buy fresh beans and now I can't have coffee out because it just does not taste anywhere near as good as what I can make it at home.

I hate to be that Eco warrior preacher mad man ( which is defo not me ), but the damage to the environment through pod waste is absolutely terrifying.

Bloody coffee machines........? Talk to me , by Aza on Dec 23, 2016 14:24:07 GMT 1, I had one of those Sages and a Gaggia classic, with a decent super jolly grinder. You can get great coffee, but my wife couldn't use them, and it's a lot of faff. That's why I went bean to cup. Not quite as nice but much more convenient.

Yeah I get what your saying. My Mrs don't use the machine. I enjoyed getting to know how to use it and tweaking the grind size, amount, tamps until I could pull my perfect shot. Honestly now it's no more effort than boiling the kettle to make a blend 43 for me because I'm so used to it. FYI - I go long black double shot with just a splash of cold milk for a little sweetness.

Bloody coffee machines........? Talk to me , by Aza on Dec 23, 2016 14:37:38 GMT 1, Yeah I got right into it weighing my shots and timing them etc, maybe one day I'll get another proper machine. I liked the idea of a Rocket machine.
Aeropress is pretty good too, for a cheap alternative.

Bloody coffee machines........? Talk to me , by churchwood on Dec 23, 2016 14:40:02 GMT 1, Went to a delonghi 4200 bean to cup about 4years ago and it's been great, it's quite big but they tend to be discounted quite heavily on amazon most of the time.
I Buy beans from discoutcoffee site in bulk, 4 x 1kg bags at a time works out around £8 for a kilo of decent beans, I only tend to drink espresso and the missus has normal white coffee through it, don't ever use the steamer nozzle but as far as the coffee goes it tastes great

Bloody coffee machines........? Talk to me , by Deleted on Dec 23, 2016 15:18:16 GMT 1, After a long experimentation phase with various brewing contraptions (French Press, Chemex, Siphon pots) I ultimately ended up with a Jura super automatic machine. A bIt pricey but ends up paying for itself in about a year or so with the savings from not going to my morning coffee shop. Makes a great cup with freshly ground beans through a burr grinder for every cup. Gives you taste, speed, and consistency daily.
I will say that the absolute BEST cup of coffee that I've been able to make has come from my AeroPress which runs $30. If you love coffee but one. You will not be disappointed. There is something calming about the ritual of brewing a great single cup with devices like these.

Nespresso recognizes the issue by offering a pod recycling program (at least here in Canada) wherein they provide heavy duty ziplock style bags to dispose of your used pods and they accept the pods back at their retail outlets. Not the perfect plan because their retail presence is very thin but I like that they offer it in my area.

Bloody coffee machines........? Talk to me , by Larry David on Dec 23, 2016 16:02:27 GMT 1, Only one choice if you want it to last, buy a Rancillio, they are built like a tank and last forever as well as making the best coffee. Have tried most of the usual brands but after time the pump goes and it's all about the pressure .....
I found this after looking at a coffee forum ffs
