How can auction houses sell obvious fakes?, by Poly Mindset on Dec 31, 2016 20:50:14 GMT 1, Well I don't think they're trying to hide anything here. It obviously isn't an authentic Banksy. However, there are numerous reprints of many different artist on Ebay and elsewhere that aren't meant to deceive anyone. My big question would be do they have to pay an artist resale or copy write fee and who would they pay it to? Does Banksy have an estate where all resale/copy write fees go? I don't know why anyone would buy this in the first place unless they really like the image and couldn't afford a real one. The whole thing does seem a bit silly.

How can auction houses sell obvious fakes?, by loartve on Dec 31, 2016 21:19:44 GMT 1, So many auction houses sell fakes, especially the smaller regional ones. Some knowingly, and some just don't have the expertise in house to know otherwise
