Framing mdf, by bigbaddom on Jan 2, 2017 14:52:25 GMT 1, Hi
I bought a piece by xenz which is painted on 18mm mdf
It's massive - from memory a full sheet so 2400 x 1200 ish
However it's not in the best shape and isn't flat etc.
As it's on mdf do you think screwing some batons to the back to flatten it would be overly frowned upon?
Also any ideas for framing would be appreciated or even who if anyone could tackle it....
Or ideas to do it myself would be good too
Thanks

I think from memory it was from a festival from 08-09?
I will try and get a photo up

Framing mdf, by erik on Jan 2, 2017 16:20:07 GMT 1, I would just hang it as is, dings and bends and all. Doubt it would hurt the value.

Framing mdf, by maxamaxa2 on Jan 2, 2017 16:29:34 GMT 1, Putting it in a "normal" frame profile where the glass use to go might work?
Made a quick sketch of what I mean below, where the black is the frame, the yellow is the mdf and the green is wooden blocks screwed into the frame. Might need some cross supports depending on the mdf-shape but should go without violating the mdfs personal space

Framing mdf, by bigbaddom on Jan 3, 2017 12:40:51 GMT 1, Thanks! For some reason I was thinking of a much more complicated solution of using a U channel with the correct amount routed out.
This seems simple enough!
