It's a very interesting doc investigating the reasons why people are compelled to 'scribble and scratch lasting mementos to their successors into any available surface' and looks at how these scribblings have developed into a legitimate art-form.

Not an edited documentary but video artist Nelson Sullivan filmed Keiths NYE party in the early 80's:
(Slightly off topic but Nelson's videos document some of the NY art / music scene in the 1980's. He filmed quite a few gallery openings etc, you see Andy Warhol pop up here and there.)

An exact replica of a shipping carton for Brillo soap pads, Warhol’s Brillo Boxes were at first dismissed by the art world. But 40 years later, with Warhol’s reputation as a contemporary-art visionary long secured, the same piece sold for more than $3 million at a record-breaking Christie’s auction»
