Moving Your Collection?, by Eric Pause on Jan 23, 2017 20:11:43 GMT 1, In the next few months I'll be relocating to a new home (about 3400km away), and of course I'll be bringing my collection with me. It consists of many glass framed pieces, a few paintings without glass, and a few dozen vinyl figures.
I was wondering if anyone here has had to make a long-distance move with their art collection, and if they have any tips on smart ways to package or ship their pieces, what to avoid, or any other helpful tips.
Thanks!

I guess plenty of bubble wrap and maybe keep them all verticle and in different size boxes.

Moving Your Collection?, by lacklisted on Jan 23, 2017 20:32:09 GMT 1, Obviously avoid the Bumps ;-)... but seriously, tulip on all corners of frames. large sheets of tissue paper, Bubble wrap on a large roll, that you can cut to size and corrugated card board as well and adhesive tape. and make dude sure the art work is secured in the transport vehicle. delicate pieces put them in their own separate boxed and beware of stacking boxes.
good luck in your new home Pause.

Moving Your Collection?, by WOOF on Jan 25, 2017 1:15:26 GMT 1, If you're getting relocated by a company that's paying for it, get a proper art shipper to do the work. Don't trust regular moving people, they don't give a rat's ass if something is packed well or not.

Moving Your Collection?, by Viking Surfer on Jan 25, 2017 7:22:25 GMT 1, I'd get a special crate custom built from a high end framer (that's what I did with Darbyshires) and they can tailor it for each individual artwork and use all the best materials to ensure it arrives from A to B.

Moving Your Collection?, by Deleted on Jan 25, 2017 12:43:42 GMT 1, Only drive after midnight between midnight and 6 am. Then sleep in the vehicle, have a coffee and a mars bar and then continue at night.
Dont brake sharply for animals in the road at night and put big bull bars on your vehicle.

Moving Your Collection?, by Vroom & Varossieau on Jan 27, 2017 13:53:10 GMT 1, Eric Pause Just make sure everything is wrapped properly in bubblewrap and paper wrap the vinyls. Get some crates made, pack everything carefully in made to measure crates. Call Flight Logistics +44 1753561100, ask for Steve and tell him your pick-up address and delivery address. If need be, you can also ask him for packaging. Also make sure everything is properly insured, for just in case..
Success Olivier
