Snik π¬π§ Stencil Artists β’ Street Art β’ Art For Sale, by stelio on Feb 2, 2017 16:34:45 GMT 1, Hundereds of people trying for maybe 5-10 of each colorway... its gonna be quick. I failed at first but kept hammering away, got lucky after 5min, cart drop happened and ended up with a blue. "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.."

There is a 5 min cart hold this time. If you hit checkout and one was still available, you had 5 mins to get checked out. On Previous drops however that has not always been the case. Hope that clears up the confusion.

Snik π¬π§ Stencil Artists β’ Street Art β’ Art For Sale, by tommh on Feb 2, 2017 20:09:01 GMT 1, I'm new to this art collection game, and have held off buying anything till this year. I'm still a complete novice but know from buying things online that systems get overwhelmed and sometimes people have them sitting in their baskets before finalising - guaranteed to throw their system all out of sync with how many are left... It's a bit like a lottery, like trying to get Glasto tickets, so you need patience and complete luck!
I did what everyone else did and kept trying, rotating through the colours till one sent me into the payment screen. I didn't get my first choice of colour but I love the piece so wasn't upset by what I got! Plus my gf likes pink so she'll be happy! Think I finally purchased one around 3.15pm.
Can't wait to see it framed and on my wall!

Snik π¬π§ Stencil Artists β’ Street Art β’ Art For Sale, by snik on Feb 2, 2017 20:24:41 GMT 1, I'd like to personally say thanks to everyone, for the support and those who purchased. We tried a new method today to avoid bots (naming SN1k rather than snik) and it seems it worked. The demand did outstrip supply, but we had to hand finish each one, and that takes time. We're super happy a good amount of people here got one, it's a mission of ours to get work to the hands of fans and not flippers. We're big collectors ourself and we know the stress it causes on drops. GP has supported us from day one, and we cannot thank him enough for supporting emerging artists. We look forward to seeing how you guys frame these.
Big love

Me.....I'm just a relatively new member of UAA trying to help folks who were p**sed off with not getting a print today.

Snik π¬π§ Stencil Artists β’ Street Art β’ Art For Sale, by Deleted on Feb 2, 2017 21:24:13 GMT 1, I don't think renaming from snik to sn1k would make a difference with bots. Most will monitor the page for a change in page source and not be monitoring for key words. There are plenty of browser add ons that will do it, monitor the page or a snippet of the page for changes. They will normally check every second or so. if you write your own you can scan in milliseconds. If you want to catch them out post them up on an unexpected page instead of new release page! If I get to the point my art is that popular I'll release in a fun way to save the stress of the buyers. Leave some clues to follow. I wish someone did what Adam Neate did again and left art all around the city. Theres much more inventive ways to release. I like what Mobstr did recently too.

is it something as simple as the firefox check for change add on?
I was under the impression that a bot not only recognized the page change, but somehow secured a print in a cart that could easily be purchased without worry of someone else getting though payment before you.
are bots the same as people running scripts?
I feel so old by simply relying on an alarm clock and my f5 key.

I feel so old byΒ simply relying on an alarm clock and my f5 key.
It's just a script, pretty much a programme / app / macro that records and then plays back the key strokes and clicks .....so while it might be more responsive than it takes a human to realise the work is up, then wait another 4 seconds because you pressed f5 again In all the excitement and then manually enter your details....the bot has filled it all in and submitted for purchase....it doesn't guarantee you'll bag one but it gives a big advantage.....and yes like Firefox it can monitor the pages for changes and only execute when the buy button pops up.
It's simple to create a script for standard commerce sites like big cartel or any site with a straight forward cart and checkout process. The only site I know that actually does something to level the playing field is Graffiti Prints who change the IP / URL of the drop page a few minutes before release which then fucks the scripts as they are then watching the wrong page.

Snik π¬π§ Stencil Artists β’ Street Art β’ Art For Sale, by Poster Bob on Feb 3, 2017 7:55:14 GMT 1, Well GP destroys the level playing field by lying and pre-selling 67% of the release when they said that all prints will be available. They're not doing much to help you are they?
