Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by mcgill14 on Jan 29, 2017 15:11:12 GMT 1, Hey Urban Art folks of the world. I'm a keen buyer / collector / lover of urban art and have a very varied collection of pieces to date. I buy my art because I love the pieces and not because of investment potential. However in these days of every penny being a prisoner I need to be sure that what I buy isn't going to lose money. So my question to you al is this.
Invader : buy Yes or No. I love his work and know that it appears to be hard to find. Do you reckon that he is an artist that will hold his value?
Look forward to your views, and thanks in advance.....

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by samfrost on Jan 29, 2017 15:21:41 GMT 1, Nothing is certain in the art world. If you are concerned about principal protection, I suggest another asset class.
Art trends come and go and most art becomes worth far less than the primary market over time. Pickup any day sale catalog from decades past and you'll be amazed at how prices shift.
For most of the artists discussed on this forum, it is unlikely that they will retain stable values. Invader...I dunno...lots of money being paid currently for some cool tile work.

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by .dappy on Jan 29, 2017 17:58:54 GMT 1, ... Invader has been around for a number of years ... he is definitely on the street ...
... his work can be found literally all over the world ... and can be followed through the maps and books the produces ...
... I have not even mentioned the shows that he has undertaken - again all over the world
... will he be remembered?... I would say yes ... especially compared to some of the 'artists' that we see on here ...
... yes his prices have risen in the past couple of years or so mainly connected to the substantial public shows he has undertaken, making his name more well known ... supply in not elastic ...
... but as I always say, buy what you like, that's how I started collecting Invader, and have one or two nice bit's

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by Deleted on Jan 29, 2017 19:05:49 GMT 1, I really like Invader, and particularly his street work. But, will he be relevant or remembered in 40/50 years time? I'd say he won't be and at best he'll be a footnote on the paragraph about Banksy. Which will probably be pretty much the only artist from this genre still remembered.

Invader over the last few years, has been a very interesting artist. He is putting on big shows, selling works for big money, but is still staying true to his name by continuing to invade spaces by putting up illegal street pieces. His work, like all great artists, is instantly recognisable. For me, the whole concept of his work, puts it beyond being just a bunch of tiles.
The guy has been doing this for 20 years, so he is not a flash in the pan/here today gone tomorrow artist. Will his works retain their value...? Who knows, I would say so and its a very legitimate question if you are planning on spending thousands on his work. I'll say they will do, so long as he continues to invade and his work remains on the street. If he starts to disappear completely from our streets, and retires then that could be bad. I don't think his studio work works that well if the street pieces stop.

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by Winter on Jan 29, 2017 19:30:10 GMT 1, He has a unique style and has worked hard for many years to become established. So many artists on here have come and gone over the years but he has gone on to be one of the most popular and collected. I actually think his prints are undervalued at the moment and his prices will head towards £3-5k this year. I do think Banksy will become the most remembered but Invader will be in there somewhere. When the Invader original sold for $273k in October that was a significant moment. If I had to choose between artists like Pejac, Borondo or Invader I know where I would put my money. In my opinion of course.

Invader will be remembered because of his prolific street output; thousands of mosaics in hundreds of locations across the globe.

If you like Invader, buy it. If you don't like, don't. This forum became an incredible .... well I don't know what...

I value the knowledge of folks on the website who have been collecting art far longer than me. I wasn't aware that it was a crime to seek advice like this. And I will buy what I like, I always do however I'm not in the habit of pissing money down a drain either. Hence the question.

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by El Pulpo on Jan 29, 2017 23:27:13 GMT 1, The value of his work is growing since a couple of year and I don't think it will stop anytime soon.. His notoriety is growing the same way. A good point for him is that he didn't really change his way of doing artwork because of that.. he keep going on the street as he always did. And he has a strong fan community.
The only bad point I find is that there is many people who let the chance pass of owning a piece of him not so far ago and everyday it's become harder. I'm beeing sarcastic now cause I guess it's not that bad for whomever trusted him when he was not so famous.
So for us there is still the maps, books and so on but even for that prices are going crazy.
I won't say I'd like to see his prices going down to have a chance of buying a piece, I'm happy for him and his lucky owners, but still, that rised too fast.
And oh, for those who wants, there is two of his Hong Kong prints available here : soldart.com/fr/oeuvres/invader-scooter/ Good luck.

Things may change but right now there's not much out there. Unfortunately, I am looking for a Alias, but beside Over the Influence there is not much out there I personally think the Alias works are over priced. Saying that, he seems to be doing really well in Asia and that market has a LOT of growth still to come.
His prints will continue to rise in my opinion, especially with his small edition sizes. Still obviously nowhere near the scale of Banksy though.
I think he has and will continue to solidify his place in Urban Art history.
As Winter said, with his work, it's less about price and more about availability.

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by lucky7 on Jan 30, 2017 5:22:20 GMT 1, Hey Urban Art folks of the world. Are you ready to spend at least 25,000 USD for an alias?
I like invader, he's definitely one biggest icons of this wave of street art.
I think he raises some warning flags: Very derivative, no concept, weird and murky prices. I still like him.
Who is buying all these Invader's at these prices? Where is his Brangelina?

I guess that you know that there is very rich people, companies, even institutions, emirates, yakusas, etc etc ... that have a lot of money to spend ! Each alias is unic, and if the one is beautiful, big enough or amazing, he will take an owner... Invader is not stupid, if he put that price it's because he sold some at that price. Look, how many would put hundred of K for Invader table at Laz ? Alias are better than prints ( i have too, only public ones ) and it's easier to keep It at home ( not as prints very fragile in fact ) ... Invader, Banksy, Stil, my trio People don't remember how some are very very rich, buying a Picasso drawing as a pack of chips.

Invader...Yes /No... discuss, by mcgill14 on Jan 30, 2017 8:41:38 GMT 1, The only Invader prints I've seen in gallaries have been the embossed pieces that look like tiles. I believe that his earlier pieces were flat prints. Anyone know anything about what these are? Can you give me titles that I can search on to see what they were like.
