Any French here ? Need info about LaPoste..., by Happy Shopper on Feb 6, 2017 12:19:31 GMT 1, Don't know about France, but I have a feeling that stuff sent from the UK post office doesn't track internationally, only for the UK part and that it arrived in the US.

Any French here ? Need info about LaPoste..., by sakyamuni on Feb 6, 2017 12:42:50 GMT 1, colissimo international includes tracking number and insurance (very low). Other cheaper options may have no tracking number and then you need to add about 5 euros to have a tracking number, this is what may happen if you choose letter option and then add the tracking that is not included. Colissimo international is more expensive, as an example i recently paid 30 euros for a print in a tube to the US but it did include tracking and small insurance ( and you can track until delivery in the US). hope this helps

Any French here ? Need info about LaPoste..., by Deleted on Feb 6, 2017 13:18:48 GMT 1, Colissimo insures up to โฌ1,500 euros. You can state the amount in increments from 100 euros up.
The service for 5 euros approx is a tracking service with proof of delivery, usually for normal mail or gifts etc.
www.colissimo.fr/particuliers/Track_a_parcel/FAQ_tracking.jsp
If the package was sent Colissimo France (domestic), or Colissimo International from France the tracking number is printed on the form.

Also below a few kilos, weight does not affect price if total dimensions of the package are under 1,50m

Any French here ? Need info about LaPoste..., by Happy Shopper on Feb 6, 2017 14:07:39 GMT 1, Still sounds quite cheap, so I wouldn't be too bothered. Best to have insurance anyway.

Any French here ? Need info about LaPoste..., by Deleted on Feb 6, 2017 14:29:55 GMT 1, He probably sent it the cheapest way which is normal post plus the extra for the tracking proof of delivery sticker they add to the envelope or parcel. It sounds right to me. Plus this way, the delivery can take ages and there are often customs delays into the US over xmas.
I always send colissimo. I have had a few arguments with La Poste here as I asked about sending art with a low value five or ten euros quickies abroad. Europe and US etc and they said. I have to send it colissmo, 30 euros to US and 15 to EU countries because everything that is classed as merchandise has to be sent colissmo.
The only way for cheaper postage is send stuff as documents or publicity brochure etc.
The days of cheap posting for low priced goods have long gone.

Any French here ? Need info about LaPoste..., by Deleted on Feb 6, 2017 14:56:43 GMT 1, Hi, Question is: is it true that there is no tracking number on International Colissimo UNLESS you pay extra for an insurance ?**************** Do you smell fish ? Here is the story... Bought something on erbay in November. International shipping was 12 USD (paid too). So I asked the seller to ship it and send me the tracking number. He replied that there are no tracking on international shipment at LaPoste unless I go for an insurance, costing extra 5 USD. I was a bit surprised... anyway, I say to the guy to ship, send me tracking number and then I will pay the 5 USD extra. No reply. Still no reply, so I wrote again saying that since I will be in France over Xmas he can send it to my parents in France and forget about the insurance-tracking cost. I got a reply from her daughter saying the seller went for holidays, she can't find the posters and that I will have to wait for another month for him to come back. He is back, he sent me an email thanking me for being patient. I replied that I would be interested by some more items he has just auctioned and asked if he could combine all items. No reply. I just won one item (a cheap 6 USD item). Forgot a bit about it, then today I got an email from erbay saying seller filed a case for non payment and that I should pay ASAP. So I go there to pay and oh surprise, there is a 7USD extra marked as "shipping" ?? So I wrote to the guy saying that there is a 7 USD shipping that I fail to understand. He replied that it was the 5 USD for the insurance (in order to have the tracking no) and 2 USD being extra because of cost related to weight (we are speaking about one poster, hehe, that is may 30 gr max). And threw a nice "things are getting very confusing, do you want the insurance or not?"). Told the guy that things were already very confusing before but, oh yeah, he was on holidays And that it is better we stop everything, I pay the 7 USD and he ship the stuff ASAP... So I am trying to find out if the all story about tracking number not available for international shipping (from La Poste, France) WITHOUT an extra insurance is bullshit or not ? Thanks Hello Bakshi i am French and actually there is a tracking number on the paper. But on international sends you cannot track the package. About insurance it won't change anything.

Any French here ? Need info about LaPoste..., by Deleted on Feb 6, 2017 15:39:44 GMT 1, You can track abroad as it's all linked up with US and other countries postal ervices.
Here is the English language Colissimo to track a number. www.colissimo.fr/portail_colissimo/suivre.do?language=en_GB
Here is a tracking number CC743430559FR you can copy and paste into the box and you can see the status in France from posting to USA and delivery.
Using the cheaper service for the sticker. I think Nukod is right. That is not trackable, it's only for the post office to know it's been delivered. You could ask the sender to contact the post office if they have the number if they sent it they registered proof of delivery route.
