Adam neate on ebay, by Dice on Feb 27, 2017 8:57:00 GMT 1, Not mine but there's an iconic elms cardboard piece with bidding ending soon. Its quite shocking how these pieces don't fetch anywhere near cost price on secondary. Id love to own one but you'd have to hope you'd never get bored with it I suppose.

Adam neate on ebay, by ferg on Feb 27, 2017 9:03:23 GMT 1, I think with Adams progression(which should be commended ) his older pieces lose value on secondary this one apparently was bought originally for ยฃ31k ! I hope he doesn't think he's going to get anywhere near that i see he has a reserve on it , great piece but better value Adams newer stuff eg. The 3D dimensions imo.

Adams newer 3D works are not a patch on these cardboard pieces, not a patch imo

Adam neate on ebay, by Happy Shopper on Feb 27, 2017 12:31:40 GMT 1, He's been doing shows in HK and stuff like that, but I've never been a huge fan. I think it all looks a bit dated already.

Adam neate on ebay, by Harveyn on Feb 27, 2017 13:36:11 GMT 1, My preference is for his older stuff rather than his newer 3D work. That said I love it all.
This one is still one of my favourites in my collection.
He appears to still be able to sell at these high prices primary but his secondary is still not good. Its sort of the same for Jose Parla and Micallef. I love all three of these artists and I think with time it will happen with regards to sustained auction results at major houses. I think any healthy primary market ultimately needs a successful secondary market for commercial success.
I think were possible the galleries should try to support their artists in the secondary market volume permitted which would appear to be the case with Neate as the secondary market is not exactly flooded. Maybe Elms could not find a home for this particular work.
Commercial success aside his talent knocks it out of the park for me.

Adam neate on ebay, by dismalandbland on Feb 27, 2017 14:50:57 GMT 1, Elms have stated to me that they will not act to support the artist's secondary market. They won't even buy-back-in pieces that they have previously sold. This results in them being offered on the secondary and being very visibly sold way below primary.
I don't buy art to make money, but, for the everyday man (that includes me) we do need to think before we spend lots of cash on what are, undeniably, luxuries. His pieces are selling at significant sums. If when buying you are effectively being asked to just flush that sum down the pan, common sense takes over.
I love Adam's work, but, the above has prevented me from buying works at primary.
