The other statement was more a nod to the running joke that most girlfriends/wives will insist you either do not buy art over x amount of money, or will insist you sell a print on the wall when they find out it's worth over $5,000. My opinion is that everyone has the ability to flip, but it's respectful not to (especially on a community art fan forum) and that I have a higher opinion of those who commit acts of generosity than those who don't, or than those who choose to take advantage of others for personal gain.
I also have an opinion that an artist can easily remain successful while putting in minimal effort to help the less-fortunate who would much appreciate such; analogous to the wealthy contributing to charity (for reasons other than tax cuts), or lawyers doing pro bono work. Faile is a perfect example of an artist that does this, and I also consider these Invader prints fairly well-priced.
I guess the main disagreement is that I view artists - inherently, as a profession - as less focused on financial success (at least to the point of vast wealth; everyone wants financial security and the ability to have certain things), since if you want vast wealth, then deciding to be an artist is about the last career path you'd choose. That's more or less all that I'm saying.

I have the internet, and have read through most threads I've deemed relevant; any incidents in particular?
I know a lot of people are shady; that is clear. It is unfortunate how many people are purely motivated by self-interest, resulting in abusing favors or positions of comparative power. And I know that a lot of artists aren't great people, or can be easily corrupted by the prospect of wealth (like any human).
I wouldn't say I'm being altruistic, inasmuch as I simply understand human nature and respect those who choose to take a particular path in their actions. I know this doesn't generalize to all artists, and that since 2005 many artists have abused the urban/street art genre for profit, but I personally tend not to like those artists as much (and usually their life's work isn't great either, when viewed in its entirety; can lead to laziness and lack of creativity).
