Do you really appreciate the "art" of Banksy?, by aslee23 on Apr 1, 2017 22:48:54 GMT 1, I understand if you appreciate the messages in his work but his "art" is not anything that adds to a space. I just look at the prices of his art prints and can't seem to understand how something without any real artwork can go for that much $!! When I'm looking for prints to purchase, I look for something that gets my attention and draws me to it. In my opinion most are not that interesting to the eye and for that reason can't understand how they ALL sell for thousands of $'s!?!

Could this be not applied to any artist whose originals command 6 figures? I have to agree - ultimately we're talking about prints of stencils selling for > £50k, so this is clearly far beyond the objective artistic merit.

I think the simple answer to your question is this: Yes, F*CK YES, we do really appreciate the art of Banksy.
If you have the privilege, I'd recommend sitting with some of his work in person -- not just his prints, but his originals and street work too. His body of work is impressive not only from a political and often-witty perspective, but also on the merits of the artistic craft alone.

Banksy for me is catchy punch lines, a social comment. Not art, the piece of art can be seen in the relationship people want to have to an anonymous artist. That is where Banksy licks the art, and he does it good. But still, whats art got to do with his slogans on paper, thats not where the magic happens.

I hope you are joking cause banksys artist craft alone is quite poor.
