Sharks & Art, by drip on Dec 6, 2019 22:11:05 GMT 1, Dive Jedi , for some time now, I've been mulling with an environmentally friendly "disposal by shark" funeral service/business idea.
As a fan of sharks, would that be something you'd consider (once you've died naturally obvs)?
Edit: Although I guess being eaten by sharks could be considered natural, you know what I mean.

Sharks & Art, by Dive Jedi on Dec 6, 2019 22:29:59 GMT 1, Dive Jedi , for some time now, I've been mulling with a "disposal by shark" funeral service/business idea. As a fan of sharks, would that be something you'd consider? The idea that all shark eat people is a myth. Most sharks eat fish, great white eat seals or dead whales. Yearly about 6 people are killed by sharks, mostly because they are mistaken for wounded seals at the surface. More people get killed while making a selfie or by falling coconuts.
Movies like Jaws or Sharknado demonise sharks, so many people are afraid of sharks without any reason. Sharks been around for 100 million years - we just a merely 100.000 years. And we managed to kill them almost to extinction.
Your funeral idea would enhance the unfounded fear of sharks. People should realise that without sharks the oceans will be dead.

Oh, I absolutely am aware of all of your points, and I know that we kill about 100 millions sharks each year, so they have far more to fear from us than we do from them. And I've even considered that my FINural Service™ might further demonize sharks, however I do think that with the right PR and education (some leaflets), it might be a greener way to dispose of the dead? We're rapidly running out of cemetery space, and cremation's not great for the planet. It was just a thought that I've had for about 10 years. And we'd chop up the bodies first and not harass the Basking or Whale Sharks, obviously. Ah well, thank you for your input. As the resident Shark fan on here, I thought it would be worth running it past you. x
Edit: Plus a big chunk of the fees could go towards shark and ocean conservation. And people might find it comforting to know that their loved ones live on....inside a shark (or several sharks). We could even send them annual updates on how their shark is doing? Anyway, thank you for your thoughts. Much appreciated x

Transporting the dead to sea is also not great for the planet. And dumping them into the sea would mostly result in being eaten by crabs - not sharks.
