He’s made the effort to try and stop bots this time and aim the release at collectors and you’ve posted it all over a public forum. You may believe you’ve helped some people but there’s also the possibility you’ve also made it more difficult for others.

It says nothing about choosing at random, only that you're registering interest and will be sent a PayPal request if you're successful. I think it means he'll sell them to people he's pretty sure aren't flippers. Would be surprised if anyone who's not on the mailing list gets picked.

Because you opened up a discussion about it without mentioning that it was a secret release! Perhaps you should aslo hop to the various groups on fb because that's where I found the link. Quite a few 1000s follow those groups as well.

I’ve seen a few prints from this artist pop up on this forum I like but wasn’t aware of any mailing list. Thanks to Astarti I now have a chance to pick one up directly and not at secondary prices.
I appreciate that this may also give some unscrupulous members the opportunity to try and flip these but if we’re not able to share info like this what’s the point of this forum?

And some of us still collect art....nice to see even after 13 years on here people still like to keep quite then attack people who dare to say. I wonder how many artists actually believe this is helpful. They need to expand their collectors but keep the original collectors interested.
Myself I would go for one large edition each year but keep some editions every three to six months. Satisfies both markets. Stops elitism and cocks thinking freedom of speech is a bad thing and should be stopped. O wait is this the banksy forum and freedom of speech is one of the foundations. People should remover that or go to other forums to moan about people telling others.

I would share this view. I’ve made a similar comment previously about being happy to share information with other members. A shared love of urban art is why many of us are here. Yes, there will definitely be some members on here who are with the primary intention of flipping for profit but I have personally managed to land some pieces that I might have missed out on due the information and support of fantastic members here. I’ve likewise shared info in the hope that it benefits others too. It’s part of what makes us a community.
@deelish’s point about shared information opening up the possibility of adding a piece without having to pay an inflated secondary markup is spot on in my opinion. As a big hip hop fan, I like some of Mark Chronic’s prices but primarily where the lyrics are from artists I like. I’d pass on this one simply because I’m not really a fan of Dr Dre but shared information is something to be applauded and not disparaged. That’s my personal view anyway. It may not be shared by all/many (and that’s absolutely fine) but I don’t think anyone should be verbally abused in this manner for trying to help others in our community.
