Got back into it this year I was looking at the Rega P1 and saw the RSD table at a much higher spec and spent the extra ยฃ2. It's what sucked me into getting up early tomorrow. Will let you know what I pick up. Aiming for in order of desire David Bowie Cracked Actor Vangelis Blade runner David Bowie no plan Pink floyd London Would like but I think America only Star wars Lalo schiffrin The record player is one thing but please tell me you kept your records?  If you did then before you use them invest in a cleaner - it will get the dust off, kill the static and make the record sound warmer.... Amazes me that people spend loads on records and the player and don't think about cleaning them... just re-reading what I wrote and I sound a right miserable sod..... :-) Yorkie (Just putting my anorak on and going train spotting)

I think that people buy them because - as for old Banksy prints per example - they will can own their old LP - or the Legend lps that they missed - in new condition , to collect with an hypothetical value ( lol most are limited at 5000 ! ) and to care about as gens ( before we did not care about valuable collection , we just bought the singles or Lp of bands that we were fans , to listen and listen as vitrernam .
One day , the god ( s ) of the RSD, thought about business and money to make with this nostalgia and the moser sickness of our world to covet and own.
He won.

Went for Manics, Beatles, Goldie, Soulwax, Fat Freddy's Drop, Czarface to name a few
Somehow racked up an impressive ยฃ180 bill which I thought was high until the gentleman next to me spent ยฃ570.
Everyone I spoke to wanted the Bowie stuff

Did you pick up any Bowie esp the no plan I did. I wouldn't say it was clear blue though.

I picked up Cracked Actor and No plan both for a forum member so haven't opened it. The people I was queuing with were pretty serious collecters and already had the balck vinyl version and ordered the white vinyl version and said they'd collect more colours if they got released!
Definitely going to do it next year

What cleaner do you recommend dude? I use Vinyl Revival, it's the only cleaner I've ever used so I have nothing to compare it to but it makes a huge difference to any old/second hand records and a noticeable difference to the not so old records I have. It's not expensive and a little goes along way so it lasts. You can pick it up in different size bottles aswell depending on the size of your collection. The Blade Runner probably sold out as a copy of the original was going for big money. There is a red vinyl version coming out so I'm not too upset about missing it. There was a sex pistols album out this year. I had o money either but did have a credit card.
I was chatting to 2 really interesting blokes in the queue before me whil I waiting so helped the time pass, it was sunny as well. Free RSD tote bag. I know the forum likes a tote bag.

Some editions are actually small in relation to the market and escalate sharply in value although some people do get caught in the hype and pay over the odds for something that will hang around for a while. Money to be made by getting the 'hotter' items so there will always be those that have no desire to hold onto their purchases but hoping to make a fast buck and they're probably at the front of the queue already!

That's the reason why I just bought myself a copy of Anna Calvi Live At Meltdown which is a RSD release. I'm not really a fan of live albums! Limited to 750, most likely all in the UK and I'm in Canada. I did a quick search and what's left will be available on various web stores as of April 29 but do I really want to risk it? I own everything she has put out so far on vinyl. Retail price will be 27.99 and a copy just sold for 60.99 this morning on Ebay. Checked Discogs and found one for 37.99. I figured a 10 pound mark up was fair enough. And the seller has plenty of sales and 100% feedback. Done and done. I've done RSD for many years and I find that genuine releases are few. It has become a bit of a poor excuse to re-release older stuff that often isn't that hard to find. That being said, anything that can get so many people buying records in independent record shops is pretty great in my book. |

The tote bag was not in evidence here, nor any 'hardware' so either I go downtown Chicago next year or make the homage back to good old England and do it properly!
Did treat myself and my lady to an ice-cream on the way back though!
