Invader gallery prices , by Deleted on May 10, 2017 0:50:19 GMT 1, Space one $13,500 is the asking. Same for the home series. I'm just gonna stop inquiring about invader and enjoy my space one on the walls that's now worth a gazillion while I bought it from source (!!) for €400 just 2 years ago.

Invader gallery prices , by Dexter Bulldog on May 17, 2017 2:16:03 GMT 1, Can I play devils advocate for a second? If they are indeed selling for these high prices, tags and graffiti street must be really good at their jobs. I myself, and a lot of us that are interested in collecting stuff, feel we know what a lot of this stuff is worth, in fact it's almost a sense of pride, like I consider myself to know "the level" on a lot of pieces just what they should be able to buy and sell for because, and it varies from artist to artist, but I've seen galleries list very high, and then an individual on here struggle to sell that same piece for a half-decent price. I've also seen galleries not have a clue and sell for lower than certain things trade for on here. It takes a collector in it for the long haul to know what's value and what's smoke and mirrors. I've been all sides of the equation myself, not been able to sell stuff, and also gotten a fair deal when buying stuff, been too slow buying by a day and all of the sudden priced out, and then sometimes just getting blinded by love/lust for something and recklessly just paying way too much. It's as if for the most part if you follow an artist long enough you know 3 prices in order: what you can realistically sell for, what's good value to buy, and what you're gonna have to pay if you HAVE to have it right then and there. So whatever these galleries are doing to our sweet precious invader, who was once very collectible without huge swings, they must be good at it, because I sure wouldn't have the balls to buy stock and then hope that buyers will come in at 30-50 percent above that. I don't see how that's even possible. And I despise market manipulation, but if they're selling it in the stratosphere then how'd they even know that was possible? It just goes to show you the art world is way bigger than this forum and you almost have to hand it to them if they're getting buyers at these prices.
I can actually see why someone would want to pay that much for a sick invader, I just can't understand why that same person didn't buy the piece a year ago at 20% the cost. I see both sides and am internally conflicted and have been for months now. What's the answer to why didn't these people buy 1 to 5 years ago at a fraction? But also puzzling, why werent prices higher in that time frame because these pieces are awesome?
Again, mostly for discussion, and partially playing devils advocate. Ive zero affiliations w any gallery and dream of the good old days (like 3 months ago) when I coulda bought an invader I don't have for 2-3 grand.

Invader gallery prices , by Unica on May 17, 2017 2:19:39 GMT 1, I'm honestly surprised they sold what they did. Although the prices are certainly above what most Invader fans on this forum are use to paying for his prints, we must remember that Tagliatella is located in NYC in the gallery district and they have been around for many years. Their client list is huge and I would think dropping $15k on a signed print by a trendy artist for many of their clients isn't a big thing, sure maybe if they shopped around they could find one for cheaper but many just can't be bothered with that. That being said, I don't know if the prices will hold, go up or decline. It will be interesting to look back on this in a few years and see what happened.

If this is true then bad form on his part/and by association, the galleries part as well. I don't see what the secret is about pricing and found it strange that prices weren't on the PDF(at least the print editions). Gallery probably doesn't care as members on here are probably not going to pay their prices(WAY over market) but it's just not good business.

Invader gallery prices , by phat planet on May 17, 2017 7:03:58 GMT 1, Watch out for an abusive email from UA member artbrut22. He works for Tag gallery and wasn't happy when I shared a few prices. Nah off that. These NYC gallery Wand Jockies jumping into DM's to abuse Members.
Artbrut22 and Tag - Your behavior has been well noted.
You can sell your art at any price you want and we can talk about and share any way we want.
Get that sorted once and for all.

Invader gallery prices , by Matt on May 17, 2017 10:02:29 GMT 1, I can actually see why someone would want to pay that much for a sick invader, I just can't understand why that same person didn't buy the piece a year ago at 20% the cost. I would venture to say that it is because collectors like to think they "know the market value" as you rightfully pointed out.
I am a huge Invader fan, always have been. Last summer I passed on a rare print for 3k, and a superb - very unique - mosaic book for 8k. At the time, given the invader market, it looked very expensive to me and I thought I might find better pieces for that price.
Today the price of each of these pieces is well above 20k, and if I want to add them to my collection i will have to pay much more than when I last declined...
As a collector it pisses me off as there are so many pieces I wish I had bought quicker, but as a fan of the artist I am extremely happy for him (although this puts him in a bit of a shitty position for future releases which will be mayhem whatever happens)

Invader gallery prices , by daveart on May 17, 2017 15:09:10 GMT 1, not going to defend Tag - they are big boys and have been at this game a long time. I think though some of the pitchforks could be put away. Galleries have to buy at price A and sell at Price B that is at least two TIMES A. or they wouldn't be much of a gallery would they. Some of us maybe sell a few prints here and there to trade up or buy something new. Big galleries have to sell - what maybe a million dollars of art a MONTH to clear 500,000 a MONTH to pay salaries for full time employees, rent, lights, cheap wine, printing, advertisement. etc. so, i think everyone is correct if you see a print at Tag selling for 10K .. go ahead and assume that if you work at it hard enough you might find that print out in the wild for 5K . doesn't mean the gallery is ripping people off. they are getting compensated for their time and effort. so, while the prices are high i don't agree with the huge negative response.
if the gallery reps are pushing people around via DM -- that needs to stop of course --
I went to the banksy show at Tag a few years back. i laughed hysterically at some of the prices. and guess what.. people that paid those insane prices are probably now in the money and laughing back. time will tell on invader. (note i don't own any invader and don't plan to)

I also agree its annoying not to see prices, especially when I visit galleries. My argument for prices is that I may be pleasantly surprised that I can afford something. I don't always want to ask the gallerist the price of multiple pieces always. That being said I asked a friend who sell Banksys why they don't put prices on their website and he told me that it then encourages other more unscrupulous dealers to advertise his art at a higher price and never have to purchase them.

Agree....i dont expect prices on the website but when requested or on the pdf they should provide - at least more than two at a time🤣

Invader gallery prices , by postermobster on Jun 18, 2017 2:24:19 GMT 1, Hang Up just sold a Warning Grey for £8,250 and an Aladdin Sane for £10,495 which seem to be a bargain compared to Taglialatella Galleries.
Hang Up have a bunch for sale now if any one is looking. Well out of my budget - the Astro Boys seems like the best priced at £4,995 considering it's an edition of 50.

I'm with you on this one Woof - Hangup did this to a couple of my pieces when I asked them to take them down.
