Harland Miller & no COA, by Sundowner on May 5, 2017 7:32:28 GMT 1, It's always worth asking the gallery if they have any paperwork from the sale of the piece to the original owner for added peace of mind.

Harland Miller & no COA, by Ruggs on May 5, 2017 8:44:11 GMT 1, There's a couple of things here. The first thing is not all prints come with COA's. The norm would generally be receipts, either till, publisher or gallery paperwork or e-mail etc, which any owner of pieces should keep. Secondly, when a piece is sold on either privately or to a gallery any paperwork that comes as proof of purchase or authenticity should be passed on to the next recipient. That's my view on it anyway.

Although to be honest i'm sure it wont be long before fraudsters can replicate those as well!

Harland Miller & no COA, by dani on May 5, 2017 20:18:07 GMT 1, This may be a silly question, but does a COA really provide any level of assurance regarding the authenticity of a print? If someone has taken the time to forge the work itself, seems like they can just as easily forge a COA to go along with it.

Just ask the e.g. gallery they bought it from to confirm they were the buyer and make sure it matches their bank account name.
You don't need to transfer it all by bank transfer but an e.g. quid transfer would confirm they hold one in the name that they state is theirs and matches the provenance.
