Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by Deleted on Jun 6, 2017 19:03:34 GMT 1, So much debate on this now. Back to basics.. buy it if you like it and don't if you don't
I would be very surprised if it's not sold out in seconds because the lovers seem to outway the haters.
These prints and the work involved to get them realistic to hand painted art can only be commended.

Unless I'm missing something, it seems pretty clear (minus the misspelling) that it's a screen print. Don't see any mention of giclee or digital anywhere. The absence of mention of any digital aspects to the process does not necessarily mean they're not there. There is a lot of mention of the screen printed element but I'm not sure this is the full story. People who know about how screen printing works can see something is not straightforward.
When POW printed Golden Awareness, they mentioned just how many colours were used. I know this is not a rule but it helped to give a greater understanding as to how they went about their methods of printing.

Agree with you, but I think here it would be good because a few well selected closeups make it hard to understand whether we are talking POW type quality (fabulous) or Noble Awakening (frankly quite bland)
This is an expensive print. So instead of saying "we put a lot of work" "we really like how his came out", "we used the same paint as the artist" etc... it would have been great to mention exactly how it was screened, with how many colors, how the shine finish was obtained etc...
I am being picky I guess, but these ain't cheap

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by Larry David on Jun 6, 2017 20:39:46 GMT 1, As others have said yes it is not cheap for a print, neither are Millers! Not my point but these will sell out and sell for double within a few days on various auction sites. Buy it because you like her work, the quality will be top notch regardless of process.

I don't think these will sell for double when you can still get a print for equal quality at cost from LAZ that is twice the size for 1250.
I don't even think these will sell out immediately. It's still very pricey.

The new prints are really good works and really beautifull the Lazarides is a black and white work these prints will be more popular than the Lazarides one
But isn't one of these black and white as well (both have grey tones as well)?... and smaller... and possibly has Giclee elements. You can count me as one of those who cares about format.
While not really a Fridriks fan (not a hater either), the laz edition is quite impressive

But all this talk about technique / method not mattering, ... if the main element of the image is digitally printed to a very high quality, lazer printer or inkjet or whatever, then even though it might have a screen printed background and glossy spot varnish, and even embossing, isn't it still no more than a fancy giclee

I don't think these will sell for double when you can still get a print for equal quality at cost from LAZ that is twice the size for 1250. I don't even think these will sell out immediately. It's still very pricey. It's interesting. Everyone mentions the Laz print in comparison, but I think that one has lingered for years, because the image is just not strong. If it had been appealing to most, it would've been gone years ago, especially with the size and pricepoint. To me, that print has always reminded me of Alien, when the thing is attached to the man's face.
I think the black and white is her strongest image in years and far surpasses any of her previous prints in terms of the artwork - it's focused, sweeping with intense movement and feels like a portrait due to the shape. It's fucking alive. If she were to pivot towards stylized, abstract portraits with her technique, I feel that her demand would skyrocket.
The color one is nice and has all of the elements of her previous prints and then some. But for me, the black and white is where it's at. I don't care how many layers were screened, as long as the image can be comparable to the original. The pictures seem to indicate that, but at the same time, so did the pictures of Noble Awakening - and with that previous print, the reality just didn't measure up to what I imagined - though it still hangs happily on my wall today.
I'd rather take the risk to purchase an image that I love at the market price than to later pay someone else a premium for taking advantage of my indecisiveness. There are flippers at any price point. At this price, I'd rather have this over any other artists with expensive prints: Os Gemeos, Dran, Conor Harrington, RETNA, JR, etc.
It's weird there wasn't such scrutiny over the printing method used for Os Gemeos lithos Dran Giclees, and the like.

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by gmidd on Jun 6, 2017 21:15:48 GMT 1, Unless I'm missing something, it seems pretty clear (minus the misspelling) that it's a screen print. I'm very familiar with how screen printing works. My dad has run a screen printing shop my entire life. And, I agree that just because digital isn't mentioned doesn't necessarily mean that there is no digital aspects. However, they do mention 3 different printing techniques in the description, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't mention a digital aspect as well if there was one. Also, when they say things like "Utilizing peculiar printing and varnishing techniques" it makes me think they used some non-standard screen printing methods to achieve the color mixes. I could be totally wrong though and it could all be a marketing ploy, haha. Either way, as people have mentioned, the printer they used is excellent and when the artist says things like "we've achieved our goal in keeping the results identical to the original artworks rendering with all microscopic details ..." I'm just excited to see it.

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by avec art on Jun 6, 2017 21:24:30 GMT 1, .. I'm not digging on the print .. it looks pretty damn nice to me. I am however bias innit, being a screen printer and all. I can look at screen prints as a piece of art in its own right, and not necessarily the most faithful reproduction of an original artwork (although it can be). I'm sure there are better ways these days to do that, and in that regard they seem to have done a very good job of it.
in response to above: you can emboss any print or paper you want. The way I go about it (to cut a long story short) is to send it through an old etching press (rollers) squeezed up against the shape you want embossed, cut out of paper or plastic usually. Bingo, you're debossing and embossing the other side

I think the Laz print is actually too big for a lot of people, myself included. You'd need a very large wall space and framing could be cost prohibitive. Guessing it would be at around 60"x60" framed. If I ever hit the lottery and buy a new house, I'll be all over it though.

To be honest I think if you are going to go as big as the Laz edition you are better off printing on aluminium or something that can go straight on the wall. In my opinion of course

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by Matt on Jun 7, 2017 7:47:19 GMT 1, You made me laugh out loud with that one!ย As you can see this was still in the test period you can make sure that coriander and Katrin were testing the best technigues for these prints and look at the outcome they look amazing!
Are you linked to the gallery ? Just asking since you joined a few days before this thread started, and only comment on this gallery's releases ?

Felipe Pantone ๐ฆ๐ท Exhibition News โข Contemporary Art , by Karl Read on Jun 7, 2017 9:15:41 GMT 1, Hi Guys We have NOT used inkjet in the final version of the prints. We have tested the prints with inkjet with Coriander but that don't mean that we have used inkjet in the final version. You can see on our site in the description of the works the techniques we have used. As you can see on the photo's Coriander did a really good job with producing the prints so we are really proud of this release. Size: 85 cm x 85 cm The price will be 777 euro's without VAT. The release time will be 18.00 CEST time (Amsterdam time, 17.00 London time) Good luck everybody! Thanks for the info, the prints look great. I noticed on your site that you have the option to buy the prints framed. Do you have any more details on that? How are they framed? What materials are used? How much would that add to shipping?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. Yes, to be honest I would suggest to frame them yourself because this is more easier and cheaper with shipping. We frame them with wooden frame, with primer and double layered paint > acrylic glass xt-clear-5 4mm thick.
You can see the details of how we frame them here avantarte.com/framing/

Hard to tell from the pics but I think this one is going to look killer in the flesh!
