Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by eleaf on May 2, 2018 21:27:09 GMT 1, My .02 - I do think the pricing is absolutely fair for a project said to have taken 6 mos. Plus factor larger print size - gloss varnish - diamond dust & I really do think its in line. Doubt they hang around too long, honestly. And don't see these switching hands a lot either (thanks to diamond dust) ha.
Of what he's released since the newer style of halftoned color figures - Id bet Trouble & Mao reg editions command a good bit more privately nowadays then these prices...considering they ever so rarely pop their heads. And the latest (Poppy, Pollen, Demios, Meteor, and Bacon) all seem to hover just slightly below these prices - each smaller & less colors.
As for framing - Ive framed w/ Diamond Dust and key is to cheat your matte out - sort of a spacer with backing board - so it creates a lil overlap glitter moat between piece & matting.

Pricing in general has gone off the rails and itβs mainly because of resellers. Nice prints but too rich for me.

Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by Reptile 072 on May 2, 2018 23:51:04 GMT 1, These look fantastic in the images and videos. Should look amazing in person. Price is reasonable, given the size, quality, techniques and time invested. I did the math: $10/inch on the Allouche prints; $20/inch for these Avant prints. Pricing should go up with an artist's popularity, not down. If you factor that in as well, the pricing is on point. The artist and gallery should make as much $ as they reasonably can. In my eyes, Insect's imagery has improved dramatically these past few years; no point comparing prices (or for that matter, aftermarket prices) for his old prints versus the cost of these - there is no comparison.

Iβve had plenty of diamond dust prints , no problems at all. Whatβs the issue?

Nonsense. A good framer and a good print will shed a tiny sparkle or two. Prints always look beautiful!

Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by Express Post on May 3, 2018 20:06:24 GMT 1, Mine comment is cautionary, not a do not buy signal.
Diamond dust prints need to be shipped flat. You'll see that the packaging will need to be a beast for this edition.
The diamond dust can start falling off when it gets tossed around during shipping. Having my art delivered from overseas, there are plenty of gorilas that handle the packagae without care or concern.
If there is glassine paper cover, just hope there isnt any loose areas with the adhesive exposed that makes contact.
When framing, it depends on the quality of glue and workmanship that will determine how much of the dd stays on the paper, regardless on how much care the framer takes.

...but Avant is one that I would not worry about these things over. And they use to ship in bomb proof crates like these:

Exactly. It's produced by one of the top printing / publishing studios and will be shipped in a bomb proof coffin.
Christian learnt the hard way what happens when you get the latter wrong, with the first Fridriks' release. It'll be top quality in every respect I imagine.

I know a couple people with diamond dust prints and they looked great, didn't notice any residual pieces hanging around the bottom.

Great to see the evolution of his work from what he was doing with POW (those were great too!) Super rich, bold colours. If it holds up to the standard of other prints from Avant Arte, then it should be fabulous! I like the standard edition best !
I wil take something off the wall for this one!
