Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by tinyeli on Jun 16, 2018 16:20:50 GMT 1, Anyone going for red and blue today ?
At least an attempt but not terribly hopeful. Two editions of 20 with a pre-sale doesnβt leave much.
EDIT: And a big whiff on this release.

red, gold and blue for me in order.
I thibk the red red will look great in person with the darker background tones. I donβt think itβs been captured in picture really great yet either. It also had slightly different characteristics on the collar that were different from blue and gold

I think blue, gold, red in that order.. Altho honestly this gold is better than expected I personally like the red best, then gold, then blue, so reverse order as you. However, I think they all look absolutely incredible and itβll be more a matter of personal preference for a certain color.
I was lucky enough to get the gold and Iβm glad I didnβt hold out for the red. That would have been an effort in futility. I received my gold a couple days ago and itβs a show-stopper. The gold looks so amazing, i feel it would be hard to justify an extra 800 euro for the red. Although I say that now, knowing there was no chance to get the red.
I should have done one of those lame βunboxing videosβ that kids love to watch. The unboxing was pretty intense and when you finally get to the print, it really takes your breath away. Even my wife, who wasnβt a huge fan of the image when she saw it online, was speechless. I canβt wait to get it framed and up on the wall, but itβs going to be expensive...

Agreed on packaging. Took a while, and really, really loved the suspense being built from the gloves and coa first

Can you confirm that Avante used a black frame? Would love to see a pic of their framing if youβve got one handy. Iβm leaning towards a white frame but havenβt 100% decided.

I've been thinking about this lately.
Advantages of buying prints:
You can buy more pieces for the same amount of money Don't need to worry (as much) about insurance, theft, damage to valuable originals Easier to resell a print than an original In many cases they look "good enough" compared to the original

If you have the means as the OP states insurance is insurance, Its so much easier to damage a print than an Og. Originals IMO always look better than a print.

Depends on the original. If it was something similar, then I'd try for the original.

Every day of the week, without any doubt or hesitation, regardless of the artist...
Over the last year I sold a great deal of my prints to buy a handful of OGs from the same artists, and I do not regret it one bit
Today I try to only have prints from artists where I would not fork out an OG (whether the price is too high for me like Banksy, or whether I feel OGs are stupidly priced for size / quality like JR)

Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by kuni on Jun 19, 2018 15:14:15 GMT 1, General question, would you still buy an original over these if you were offered one and had the means? I would pretty much always go with an OG over a print if cost wasn't as much of an issue. 99 out of 100.
That 1/100 could be a situation where a print of some newer work is $2k and I'm able to get an OG of the same artist's older work (maybe a style I don't enjoy as much) for a similar price. If I really like the artist's most current style, I could potentially be swayed to choose the print over the OG. You could probably find a small OG Insect for around $2500, the current price of the variant but nothing that looks like his current style, in which case I might take the print variant of the new work instead.
Otherwise, I only buy prints because I can't afford OG's of many of the artists I like. That said, I'm currently cutting myself off from buying prints of artists I don't personally know, and saving for a few OG's from local artists I want to support.
