Heavy Weaponry Clamp, by Deleted on May 16, 2017 20:50:22 GMT 1, If it's a fake it's really a good one. But if I had to say I think the lines that should be straight (as on the canvas) are a bit too wobbly and all details doesn't match 100 %. Here's where I think the worst parts are: Edit: I know! But I think this is fun and I know how to do it!
Looking at the 0's on the top right and other things. It looks to me like the clamp was done with a different stencil entirely to the stencil used for the black on white one.

I have zoomed in on the O's and as you can see the curvature is different.

Heavy Weaponry Clamp, by bernsteiner on May 17, 2017 7:42:56 GMT 1, Another (new) question to the stencil experts here: How many clamps and stencils will it take until the first looks like this one?
Reverse calculation ... yesterday somebody wrote it may take 5 hours (can't find the posting anymore): - A used clamp costs ? (New one is about 70 GBP) - Time: 5 Hours - Maybe the fails are sellable too (but risk of flooding the market with HW stencil-works)

Heavy Weaponry Clamp, by iamzero on May 17, 2017 8:15:12 GMT 1, You're persistent that's for sure. It's a very simple stencil. I could trace that image into a vector in less than an hour. Cutting probably around the same and paint it in a couple of minutes. Then charge you a small fortune after creating some nonsensical back story.

Heavy Weaponry Clamp, by bernsteiner on May 17, 2017 10:08:23 GMT 1, You won't need more than one clamp for an exact result (one try fits)? .. and the object must look old and rusty.. may take some time again - are there any technical solutions for it?

Heavy Weaponry Clamp, by Dr Plip on May 17, 2017 10:20:41 GMT 1, Hey, I've just had a thought. And yes, it did hurt and yes, it was lonely.
Anyway, if you ever find your car has been clamped, instead of paying the removal fee, just spray a classic Banksy image onto the clamp.

Heavy Weaponry Clamp, by thugs on May 17, 2017 23:08:18 GMT 1, off topic, but digging out that old pic of banksy clamping the statue of boudicca in broad-fücking-daylight got me thinking just how much london has changed in the last 12 years.
try pulling a stunt like that in westminster these days and you'd be lucky to even get up the ladder.

Heavy Weaponry Clamp, by frankiefrench on May 18, 2017 11:45:09 GMT 1, Fake nonsense, too many stories, too much information, trying too hard. He didn't even paint such removable things and now a tsunami of removed sections of hoarding and other such guff is turning up on 4 rooms and what not. Even in 2000/1 he was setting the bar at £500 a piece out of the back of his car with Steve, the days of Rivington street and regular trips to Brighton when he was painting on the metal deck chair boxes. The weather and stones soon put paid to those Winnie the Pooh bear traps and so on. I'm guessing pristine deck chair boxes will start "appearing from storage, long lost blah" next? He made a point of not painting on easily removable stuff in general and he would have had the photo run by him via PC (naming no names). I would say fake, but i'll say, yet ANOTHER fake, and always on convenient little road signs and other such 'portables'

Heavy Weaponry Clamp, by bernsteiner on Jun 26, 2017 9:02:06 GMT 1, Interesting read:
Banksy and Fellow Street Artists Are Refusing to Fuel the Market for Paintings Taken from the Streets www.artsy.net/article/artsy-editorial-banksy-fellow-street-artists-refusing-fuel-market-paintings-streets
"if Banksy were to authorize the work it would set a precedent, “that works intended for the street, after they’re removed, still have value.” And that’s not a precedent, ... that artists like Banksy want to support. Day elaborates: “There’s kind of a black market that’s emerged for paintings removed from the street, and artists don’t want to encourage it by legitimizing those paintings.” While selling works uprooted from the streets isn’t technically illegal, the process does pose some serious ethical quandaries. Not only do most street artists disapprove of the removal of their works from their original context, but they also don’t see any of the profit made from the sales."

Heavy Weaponry Clamp, by rparducci on Nov 28, 2017 9:53:03 GMT 1, Picture the scene:
It's the year 2000. Some clamper is wandering around Hackney, checking his traps to see if his family can eat that night. He comes across a white transit van. It's parked slightly where it shouldn't be, so.... being a bastard, he clamps it.
The white van man wakes up in the morning. After downing some tea and consuming a full English, he has a S.S.S. and then goes to his van, ready to start a day of annoying motorists, being casually sexist and stereotyping everyone he meets. Gor blimey, guvnor, what's this? His van has been clamped.
Enraged and with the veins popping on his forehead, he walks up and down for a bit. Swears some. Paces again. Swears some more.
After wasting 20 minutes of crying and futilely attempting to chew threw the chain on the clamp, he decides to call the clamping company and give them a piece of his mind.
10 seconds later, after much abuse back and forth, he agrees to pay the clampers fee.
The clamper decides that while he didn't like having the legitimacy of his birth called into question, he would still however be willing to remove the clamp in exchange for cash that morning.
About half an hour later, the clamper arrives and approaches the trapped van.
F*ck me sideways, what's this? As he approaches the van, he notices some 30 year old, hoodie-wearing teenager crouched by the clamp. Spray can in one hand, and a stencil in the other.
The little artistic shorthouse is caught red-handed, vandalising the clamp. And in broad daylight too.
The clamper runs up behind the obviously talented and politically left-leaning ne'er-do-well and grabs him by the collar.
"Get orf me! I ain't dun nuffin! I found it like this! I was just holding this can of paint and the stencil for a guy that ran that way" the vandal said in a thick Bristolian accent.
"I don't care how obvious an art genius you are, I am going to kick seven shades of sh*t out of you" said the clamper.
"Please don't, mister. I'm not well." said the vandal.
"I can tell that by the way you talk, son" replied the clamper.
"What's your name, you young scamp? Heavy Weaponary?"
"Banksy, sir"
"I'll tell you what, young Banksy. I can't help but notice how talented an artist you are. I also notice that you've painted an elephant on my clamp. My wife happens to love elephants. And I guess I also like the cut of your jib. So I'm going to let you go on your way. You keep doing what you do best and maybe someday, this clamp will be worth something. So, I'm going to take this clamp home, keep it for a few years, monitor your artistic career, and then perhaps sell it to some guy in Germany at some point. Or maybe even just put it on eBay, which.... while in its infancy now, may one day be a successful platform for selling items of street art"
"Thanks mister. I won't forget this. Or this clamp"
"I know you won't, you young rascal. Now go on, be off with you"
Anyway, I don't want to labour a point, but even if all that happened, the clamper still wouldn't know or be able to prove that was Banksy that put the elephant on the clamp.
PC were the only ones that would be able to say it was by Banksy.
*whispers* and even if they did say it was by Banksy, you still wouldn't ever know if it actually was....

Best post I've read in a long long long time , your prose really transported me to back in time It is a crying shame that plip is no longer posting here.
