Completely agree regarding the size, not too many could hang a 2.8m+ canvas in their home, so automatically cuts your market size.
I think the prints (particularly the penguins) also have quite a cult following and desirability attached which has pushed up prices. Plus the quality of the prints in my opinion is really good so people are prepared to pay top dollar.

Harland Miller Show , by Dungle on Jun 28, 2017 21:17:02 GMT 1, Which just goes to show how stupid auction estimates are! I'd say it shows you how hyped up the Miller market is right now and without any particular reason. That Forum Auctions print is estimated at more than the most recent sale of a canvas. It's forum hype because people want to be able to buy a print from source and sell it for two to three times what they paid for it. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and am working on getting a canvas of my own but this price hyping is just complete nonsense.ย In regards to what is being touted as a new hand-finished print, it looks just like one from the series of hand-finished giclees which were all about ยฃ20k and came out earlier this year. Unless of course one of you has information to say otherwise.ย
You talk a lot of sense.
However, am honest question, do you really think that the forum hyping genuinely effects the wider market? Is the audience and influence here that large?

Wider market and forum. If you were to search the web for Harland Miller I'm sure you would come across this forum and maybe we've had a few new members that way. Same way that if you are on this forum you would come across Harland miller that way. I definitely honk he has huge interest outside of this forum due to the high profile gallery's that represent him. Whitecube othercriteria etc
I had a friend over who has never heard of UAA but recognised the Harland Miller on my wall instantly.

Well that's a touch more positive and less of a double entendre than most of the rest of his work. I like it! Bet it looks fantastic in person.

When has the length of your neck had anything to do with it ? Mind you, i ended up with a crick in my neck.

That said, I'm sure this body of work will be great. But honestly, I don't see HM painting a different style of book cover as much of a departure from his current body of work.

I agree seeing it alongside his other works may help contextualise the piece - cannot wait for the show!
