Those at the very top who profit directly from the influence for sale, and those at the bottom who rely on government assistance. Both these groups have the most riding on the outcome. I personally receive neither benefit so I'm jaded by a lot of the same and easier to sway. But yeah I definitely believe those who share the same views are more inclined to not vote, and vote just for a free print lol. |

This does seem about encouraging people to vote which for this election I think is a good thing. I suppose if you like Banksy and vote Tory this is something that might be difficult for you. For me I like this idea. It is edgy as there does seem to be potential legal difficulties but painting illegal art is how Banksy made his name so he seems to be testing the law and his art for this in his own unique way. So that makes it fine to misquote ? I have no idea what the make up of the vote is in these constituencies but would the better non tory vote be a Lib Dem vote to oust a Tory as opposed to a Labour vote ?

Banksy is not stating vote Labour he has written if you vote "against the Conservatives". Not sure who came second in those Bristol areas but the main thing is about not voting for The Tories.
I guess Banksy is probably into the idea of stopping the privatisation of the NHS and actually funding schools from the politics of his artwork and this recent artwork idea. So a Labour vote maybe his intention but it is not what he is saying. I do not think there is an important need for Banksy to state vote Labour.
It is trying to encourage people to actually get out and vote. I have read according to some polls, Labour supporters are not as committed to actually voting on the day compared to Tories. I think this will encourage some people to vote who would not have done. It may backfire if a Tory voter switches to UKIP to get the print but I guess Banksy thinks this is worth the risk.
Banksy has definitely shown he does not care if Tory voters now stop buying his artwork. Personally I like that Banksy has done that.

I know shep fairey does well out of his political prints but the joy of banksy is how he has great messages and goes under the radar. Just think that by influencing people to vote it shows him as one of those smelly dread lock types.

And of course that was inevitable as the value of his work started to rise. I can't see why any right wing voter would like Banksy's work (much of which illustrates left wing issues), but for the potential to gain financially. That must be a real quandary for Banksy.

It is a corruption of democracy, an offence against decency. I'd also say that promising an extra ยฃ350m a week to the NHS last year was a corruption of democracy, or promising not to raise VAT in 2010 before doing so a fortnight later, or the influence that shadowy US-based billionaire Robert Mercer enjoyed in the Brexit vote (and again this year), or the disregard paid by Tories to election financing rules and their contempt for subsequent attempts to protect them, etc and so forth. These are all extremely troubling, and Banksy has put himself in very bad company.
However, at least he's perverting democracy for the right side. So, in short, I'm all for it.
