Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by Jonny Wednesday on Sept 5, 2020 19:44:51 GMT 1, Hey Fusion0001, Keen to understand how you put the figures together a little more, as I'm sure others are as well. Its certainly seems to becoming a reference point / guide for prices at the moment. It looks like you dont apply the same percentage gain to all prints. If you look at U/S laugh now, thats jumped from 50k to 70k, even though one wasnt sold as part of the Forum Auction. Very Little Helps did sell for 56k hammer, which with cost was over 76k but is only marked at 49k. U/S WSM wasn't in the auction yesterday now up at 35k, which is more than a signed version, which was sold yesterday. I really want to believe in these figures, even though they gave me a restless night last night, I have to say I am a little skeptical atm - please dont take that as a criticism - I really want these figure to be correct or as close as can be and I think its a great resource ! But understanding a bit more behind the math might help convince me this is for real. Should I be ignoring the "Print Value (auto)" column and focus on "Print value (expert range)" instead to get a guide on value? I looked a bit into the issue and have slightly tweaked the algorithm so that it reacts faster to price moves. This has now fixed some of the issues you have observed. To summarize how the calculations on www.banksy-value.com work now: BPI is the print value index, which is calculated as value-weighted average price of all Banksy prints (always taking the last observed sales price in auction) indexed to 2008 price level equal 100. There is no extrapolation; only actual sales data. Print value (auto) is calculated as follows - If the print has been sold in last 3 months then I take the average of all sales prices over last 3 months and multiply it by how much BPI has increased over the period since last observed sale (e.g. WSM unsigned was sold for 22.5k in June and index has gone up from around 750 to around 1150, so the price for it is projected at 1150/750*22.5k=35k
- If the print has not sold in last 3 months I take single latest sales value and multiply it by index increase
Print value (expert) is a manual update that I do. It takes some days for me to run through the list and do a proper update (will do over the weekend) Hope this helps clarify. And thanks for the observation, which helped improve the estimates!
Thanks Fusion !! I see how you're doing this now ! I do data migration for a job, so always keen to look at data and how its generated. Sad, yes, I know . i'm a data geek, I cant help it.
Anyway, very much appreciated. Didn't expect you to work the weekend on it
I do hope you get some recognition from the site and get some advertising revenue for all your hard work.

Agreed and things canβt continue at the same rate unless the Β£ tanks. There are likely to be a number of prints on the market soon as these are life changing amounts of money. That in itself is likely to cool things down. All just my opinion.

Hi Fusion, Realizing that you are in charge of the Banksy-value website, which is awesome btw. I was wondering if you would/could add Napalm: Canβt beat the feeling, Serpentine edition, B&W with hand finished blood splatter. And Dumbo. I guess Dumbo doesnβt come up very much. There is a gallery in the USA that has one listed at $1million usd, which is silly, but I would put it at Β£3-500k in this climate

Added also to the list!
PS. Will indeed update the offer later as well. But to be fair I pretty much only buy prints exactly as my offer says, as it makes no sense to sell anything in the current market π Also I happily offer friends or people who ask kindly to put their print for sale on the site.

Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by LJCal on Sept 22, 2020 22:59:54 GMT 1, I am amazed more people haven't questioned the unsigned, board mounted LIITA that went for over Β£200k, when you could have 'easily' picked one up from Β£30+k . People must not question, everything is normal, auction results are 100% legit. Come on everyone buy, buy, buy, another 20% gain to be had this week!

There weren't any unsigned LIITA pre Sothebys for Β£30k. They had past that long ago.

Haha probably, he only has to sell a couple hundred tenners and the Liitas paid for

Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by therivler1 on Sept 22, 2020 23:18:20 GMT 1, don't forget there was a stop at Β£75k along the way at Forum.
Another way to look at it is that they were woefully undervalued in comparison to Girl With Balloon.
I'm not saying it all makes sense, but there hasn't been a signed one at auction in three years. In that time there have been almost 10 signed Girl With Balloon. And if one were to believe that LIITA is on par with GWB, it makes a little more sense. Not a whole lot more, though, as the buyers could have saved themselves Β£100k by just stopping bidding and picking them up on secondary.

Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by Pawel on Sept 22, 2020 23:52:03 GMT 1, To be honest I wasn't meaning to start a debate on it...but is this the future of this forum now? Talking about auction sales? There seems to be one every month - so that's a grim thought. No worries, when the cheapest banksy print is over $1m in the near future, most people here will sell theirs, and the the auction sales wonβt be discussed as much.

Maybe don't comment on those threads if it bothers you that much, then members won't respond to your posts regarding auctions. Or maybe start a thread about something that you would enjoy more.

While weβre at it. Wanna buy my first Don McCullin album. Any recommendations anyone?

Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by therivler1 on Oct 2, 2020 17:26:00 GMT 1, nice - another unsigned LIITA to see if the last one was a fluke. and finally a signed barcode, which I think we'll see some fireworks on.
