Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by jp on Aug 20, 2020 22:00:24 GMT 1, "People are jumping out of stocks and shares" yet the stock indexes globally are near all time high?
America's richest 1 percent now own half the value of the U.S. stock market. The richest 10 percent own 92 percent.
The Treasury and the Fed have been pouring billions into American corporations (bailouts, subsidies, and debt relief) to prop up the stock market.
This is a redistribution from the majority of Americans who own little or no shares of stock to the rich who own most.
When Trump says the stock market is the economy, know who he's really talking about.
Income inequality has been a growing problem in the US since the 1970s. This graph measures income inequality over the last 100 years. You can see how bad it is getting and this does not even include the last 10 years...
Economic inequality exists everywhere across the globe and is a measured by the Gini Coefficient that determines the gaps in income across society. Gini Coefficient ranges from zero where everybody has the same income to one hundred where an individual has the entire income and everyone else has zero income.

Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by Jonny Wednesday on Sept 5, 2020 8:21:06 GMT 1, That is a 25% rise on the Banksy Value index. Just updated everything on the site. Interesting times
Hey Fusion0001,
Keen to understand how you put the figures together a little more, as I'm sure others are as well. Its certainly seems to becoming a reference point / guide for prices at the moment.
It looks like you dont apply the same percentage gain to all prints. If you look at U/S laugh now, thats jumped from 50k to 70k, even though one wasnt sold as part of the Forum Auction. Very Little Helps did sell for 56k hammer, which with cost was over 76k but is only marked at 49k. U/S WSM wasn't in the auction yesterday now up at 35k, which is more than a signed version, which was sold yesterday.
I really want to believe in these figures, even though they gave me a restless night last night, I have to say I am a little skeptical atm - please dont take that as a criticism - I really want these figure to be correct or as close as can be and I think its a great resource ! But understanding a bit more behind the math might help convince me this is for real. Should I be ignoring the "Print Value (auto)" column and focus on "Print value (expert range)" instead to get a guide on value?

Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by fusion0001 on Sept 5, 2020 9:04:31 GMT 1, Iβll send details a bit later, but I have not yet had time to update individual print prices properly after the auction last night, so there can be definitely inconsistencies. Iβll get to it today. I usually post on the Banksy Valuation thread in the Banksy forum when I do a proper full update.
But the index should be now right. Its simply a weighted index of print prices where I take average last 3 month auction price for each print (or if not auctioned then whatever last price was). Hence it always lags a bit behind the actuals.

Should I be ignoring the "Print Value (auto)" column and focus on "Print value (expert range)" instead to get a guide on value? I looked a bit into the issue and have slightly tweaked the algorithm so that it reacts faster to price moves. This has now fixed some of the issues you have observed.
To summarize how the calculations on www.banksy-value.com work now:
BPI is the print value index, which is calculated as value-weighted average price of all Banksy prints (always taking the last observed sales price in auction) indexed to 2008 price level equal 100. There is no extrapolation; only actual sales data.
Print value (auto) is calculated as follows
- If the print has been sold in last 3 months then I take the average of all sales prices over last 3 months and multiply it by how much BPI has increased over the period since last observed sale (e.g. WSM unsigned was sold for 22.5k in June and index has gone up from around 750 to around 1150, so the price for it is projected at 1150/750*22.5k=35k
- If the print has not sold in last 3 months I take single latest sales value and multiply it by index increase
Print value (expert) is a manual update that I do. It takes some days for me to run through the list and do a proper update (will do over the weekend)
Hope this helps clarify. And thanks for the observation, which helped improve the estimates!

To summarize how the calculations on www.banksy-value.com work now: BPI is the print value index, which is calculated as value-weighted average price of all Banksy prints (always taking the last observed sales price in auction) indexed to 2008 price level equal 100. There is no extrapolation; only actual sales data. Print value (auto) is calculated as follows - If the print has been sold in last 3 months then I take the average of all sales prices over last 3 months and multiply it by how much BPI has increased over the period since last observed sale (e.g.
It takes some days for me to run through the list and do a proper update (will do over the weekend) Hope this helps clarify. And thanks for the observation, which helped improve the estimates! You are a prince for doing this. I hope ppl appreciate the effort you put in. High five to you!!!

Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by FΠ― on Sept 5, 2020 18:38:17 GMT 1, Hey Fusion0001, Keen to understand how you put the figures together a little more, as I'm sure others are as well. I looked a bit into the issue and have slightly tweaked the algorithm so that it reacts faster to price moves. This has now fixed some of the issues you have observed. Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by cest on Sept 5, 2020 18:57:35 GMT 1, I'd "trade up" my wsm us for a signed one at that price (assuming someone will give me 20k for my us)

Forum Auctions β’ Banksy Marketplace π¬π§, by bob60 on Sept 5, 2020 19:10:02 GMT 1, Iβll send details a bit later, but I have not yet had time to update individual print prices properly after the auction last night, so there can be definitely inconsistencies.
What are the two Soup Cans colour? I thought there was only the 28 colour ways, the original blue signed and unsigned, and the two quads...
