Forum Auctions • Banksy Marketplace 🇬🇧, by Sundowner on Apr 23, 2021 15:57:45 GMT 1, Watching the prices at Heritage yesterday and Phillips saw "big items" such as Nola massively correct and it will continue. Forum will be hit by the shock wave and the very poor u/s collection at Bonhams will be carnage. Anything unsigned is going to suffer and a degree of panic will see even more come to the market. Meanwhile "investors" will sit on the side lines as they start looking for specific items to complete collections or good value. Permenant correction? No just a changing of the ownership model and far too much supply, which will be temporary. However with original buyers wanting to cash out on one of the best investments they have ever made, prices will go down before they go up again but within 18months they will be back at December 2020 prices. Panic now or pick up some better priced gems? You decide!! Pest control has Damage the market.... How so Luis?

Unfortunately they’re thinking they need to get another Banksy auction in sooner to make up for the lost income from this sale.

Forum Auctions • Banksy Marketplace 🇬🇧, by fusion0001 on Apr 23, 2021 16:51:26 GMT 1, Ran the recent auction numbers through banksy-value.com indexing. Price decrease 8.29% in April
I "feel" the actual decrease is closer to 10-15%, but the algorithm right now does not account for "passed" lots and hence is a bit lagging behind.

Forum Auctions • Banksy Marketplace 🇬🇧, by artlife11 on Apr 24, 2021 21:04:48 GMT 1, Will be interested to see how the results go today. It feels like the market has become rather saturated and there could be some bargains to be had. The price correction seems to be in full effect and what with stock market taking a big hit, It is difficult to see anything except a continued correction on prices. I also expect the unsigned vs signed price point to continue heading back to the ratio it was pre-covid. I hope I am wrong but what does everyone else think? Any predictions on upcoming lots?
I see No Ball Games hammered at £62000 but price achieved was £83000 on Banksy value . Does this mean forum auctions pocketed £21000 for a disappointing result? I can understand Sotherbys and Christie’s and Bonhams charges for exceptional results but I would be peveed at paying massive fees on results from most of Banksy sales from yesterday’s auction

I can understand Sotherbys and Christie’s and Bonhams charges for exceptional results but I would be peveed at paying massive fees on results from most of Banksy sales from yesterday’s auction I dont really think you can blame the auctioneer, many records have been set at Forum especially towards the end of last year. The market is correcting due to over supply and becoming over valued, no auctioneer can do anything about that. Forum also didn't take £21k that figure includes VAT (where payable) and ARR. The auction house would receive £15,500 on that hammer price. Edit - I do think art auctioneers fees in general are high relative to transaction fees in other industires. I'm hoping more and more challengers come in to the market and collectors start getting better value. I'm pretty sure someone could build a viable high end auction house charging max 10% fees, especially if the bulk of sales are conducted online and they can keep overheads down.

Forum Auctions • Banksy Marketplace 🇬🇧, by vernaxley on Apr 25, 2021 9:47:27 GMT 1, It's hardly surprising the prices are slowing, given we've all been openly bemused by what people are paying for prints with no real consideration for condition, signed/unsigned and edition size.
Maybe the new players in this market are finally educating themselves to the value of the hand of the artist.
If so, then the serious money will simply be diverted towards the Banksy originals market where the scope for returns far exceeds that of prints.

Bomb hugger £28000 hammer Happy choppers £24000 hammer Be interested to see if this continues in auctions this week but that’s either terrible results or market is harshly correcting
