Forum are single-handedly killing his market.

The lights are on but no-one’s home.

The problem with Forum running this kind of monthly event is they don’t have a wide enough appeal and reach so that I too believe they are collapsing the market as a result.

The General Public do not know who they are and it is that part of the market that creates the demand. So as a result the crowds at Forum are dwindling with those predominantly biding being investors or galleries all after a steal.
Art “professionals” only want a bargain so bidding is low and there as there are no bidders there simply is not the competitive tension. Some pieces are being sold on one or two bids!!!

Sellers mistakenly believe because Forum claim to be the biggest Banksy sellers they must be good. But volume is the wrong metric to use and further when offered no sellers commission and a share of the buyers premium it seems good to the uninitiated.

This sale has a couple of good pieces in it and it will be interesting to see how they get on. Personally I would not sell some of those items through them. At about the same time Christie’s are also running a sale. The Christie’s reach should see a bit more competitive tension although that said whilst I believe we are near the bottom of the downturn I am not sure there are many retail buyers around. They have put together a big catalogue, again with some excellent works. So whatever your views, with a recent couple of new works from Banksy to bring him back to the fore again, it’s certainly interesting to watch!! Get your popcorn ready!!

Car crash again !!

Well as predicted Forum auctions produced a dire, dull, car crash of an auction!!!

Who would sell through them!!

Wow so there will be some very sad sellers and very happy buyers!!!

I think Christies have (wisely, imo) abandoned their 'Banksy-only' auctions but there are 25 Banksy lots in their online only Contemporary Editions auction that starts next week, including the first GDP Duck and Cover I've seen in resale.

In my husband's words (and I fully agree) : 

All these buyers were ripped off,
"Banksy" is a collective that duplicate numbers , falsely date works,
spill false narratives and can't even copyright their works. 
Not to mention the paid media contracts and the blackballing of people they see as a threat. One day all the artists involved will be worth zilch as well. 

Banksy, Shakespeare, and the Masons. All in cahoots together. I have a 1/1 Holy Grail signed by Banksy with an original edition of Romeo and Juliet inscribed on it. It is the ultimate collab. Will be auctioning with Forum once Pest Control issues a COA (already have COA from the Bard and The Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret).

It's already stated that Banksy is a collective. If you know better and can prove Banksy is indeed one person, then prove the allegations of fraud wrong.

You can't be certain of anything if you don't know who Banksy is. 


I actually never made the comparison, I only responded to your charity excuse. But interesting how you perceived it that way. 

It does make more sense if it is a collective i suppose. So is the original Banksy still anything to do with it?.
