Who cares about the edition, I don't think these would be valuable unless you sold them like 10 years down the line. Buy to enjoy, and brag to your friends that you own a Johns! If we could steer the conversation in a another direction, does anyone know why Johns is so important? Personally, I don't care for his work at all (with the exception of the flags, and I have a feeling its because they resemble Saber's flags which I love and am now realizing are super derivative of Johns). Why is a messy coat hanger such a sought after piece of art? Fans, share your wisdom!

However, I look at that more along the lines of pop art in the same sense Lichtenstein used every day items in his art. I suppose the difference is in the style of painting. Where Lichtenstein was pure pop for now people (sorry Nick Lowe) Johns was more into utilizing elements of abstract expressionism in his work. Some of his work like 'False Start 1 &2 'as well as 'Painting with Two Balls' imo is clearly utilizing abstract expressionism techniques. I actually like his work and think it will work well when hung with the likes of Basquiat or more contemporary artist like Eddie Martinez. |

Seems like an odd situation, but like others great memorabilia for those into ephemera and antique reproductions. Johns is a silent partner of the business of ULAE. Make no mistake he has approved the sale of every print. Although these prints where made many moons ago for the intention of a book, johns has approved for them to be sold as individual prints. Speaks for the quality of these bad boys. I think it's a very cool story. They come with a document explaining the back story too!

I picked up a Flags III and Painting with Two Balls. The paper looks nice on these. Wonder if I should pick up a couple more. Yes, you probably should. I recommend 'False Start 1' and/or '2' only because they really show his use of abstract expressionism imo the best and they will look great hung together as a set. Additionally, 'False Start 1' was a very popular painting of his and the original on canvas sold for $15.5 million. Some of his originals have reached even higher at auction. I think 'False Start 1 and 2' are just timeless classics and would look pretty great in any room whether a home or business. As always, buy what you like though and enjoy it. |

Not surprising ! JJ is a fantastic artist, but anything by him is totally out of reach except for very heavy hitters...
If you think that people are ready to fork out 300ยฃ for an LP of crap music that has no link to Banksy except the image which was lifted off of him....these are a no brainier
