Stik NYC 28th and 29th, by rick523 on Jun 30, 2017 16:12:29 GMT 1, I went to the exhibit last night at Fat Free Art. The makeup of the gallery is truly amazing; subtle yet intricate. The passion of the proprietors truly show through to their guest. I highly recommend visiting their gallery if/when you are in NYC.
I met Stik. He is truly one of the nicest, most sincere people I've ever come across. A percentage of all sales went to the Tenement Museum. I mentioned that my wife's father grew up in Lower East Side when his parents emigrated to the US from Russia (Siberia) immediately after WWII. Sadly, we lost my father-in-law 5 years ago. When I asked Stik for his signature on a piece of paper, he took time to sit down, think about the conversation we just had. When he handed me the below picture, he literally torn it down the middle in front of me and explained that it two people separated by life and death but always waiving at each other.
Wow!

Stik NYC 28th and 29th, by brazzy on Jun 30, 2017 18:27:47 GMT 1, What's the rational for just 10 show prints/posters? Seems odd not to do a few more than that, while you're at it!? He makes his art so inaccessible to casual fans, that I've completely lost interest in owning a print from. Even his book is difficult to obtain.

This is poetry: even if I stil have difficulty to understand his art, I felt being closer to it by reading your story and how he translated to it on the paper. Thanks a lot for sharing! I now hope he will come to Tokyo someday.

Stik NYC 28th and 29th, by Deleted on Jul 2, 2017 8:42:25 GMT 1, Just seen a proper photo of the 'print', what a strange choice. It looks a lot like a very expensive show poster. I wonder what he was thinking going with that? Quite often artists seem to over think their prints and end up with poor choices as a result. It seems that this has happened here.
A general comment about Stik is there appears a tactic to keep ultra tight supply lines and keep the demand side high, which is fine, but this is 'an easy pass'.

Stik NYC 28th and 29th, by iamzero on Jul 2, 2017 9:32:03 GMT 1, I can't imagine the market being hurt by releasing a low edition print of the image painted on the wall? A release of 25 of four colourways would've increased demand for Stik for sure. I'd be definitely up for that. Love the wall image.

Doubt it will do anything to other prints' values, As is so often levelled here that we don't discuss the artwork enough, my take on this print is that it's very poor. It's really a screen printed show poster with text. It could have been much better if it had used the building without any text underneath. It really is a curious move to have released this with such a high price tag.

Thats not how you spell Delancey (2nd bottom line on left)
Released version had different text layout.
Would have been nice to release these to those in 11-20 in the queue

The print is great, especially with such a small edition.
