Remove banksy pieces during open house?, by singo369 on Jul 5, 2017 23:17:58 GMT 1, Hey guys, I'm listing my LA condo for sale. I've got some B prints on the wall. For those that have sold their places, did you guys take down the art work? It'll be listed on sites etc and I'm thinking it's not a good idea to have the art in the listing pics with the address etc. Thoughts?
Leave them up, show them off!

Remove banksy pieces during open house?, by jluhiex on Jul 5, 2017 23:23:20 GMT 1, 95% of the people will not know what you have. If it adds to the decor and interior design of the place then leave it. Staging can typically get you 10-20% more in offered price and get your house sold much faster. Color palette, lines, placement can all help but this can also easily be done with art that is 1/100 the cost. Most prospective buyers are not looking at your art but the layout, number of bed/bath, feng shui etc. When I go to open houses/showings I personally like the simplier is better approach. I never found the saloon wall clutter appealing. If anything keep the walls simple and take down some art.
As always, if your afraid of potential thieves then only have agents accompany prospective clients, no supra box, prequal buyers etc.

Remove banksy pieces during open house?, by tartarus on Jul 5, 2017 23:48:44 GMT 1, if I was in your position, id look at it like this. if your worried enough to ask, take them down. Nothing bad will happen if no one sees them.

Remove banksy pieces during open house?, by kaos on Jul 6, 2017 8:01:57 GMT 1, Your question is should you take it down for 'the listing pictures' - absolutely. Would I want the world and their aunts to know what's in my house - Absolutely not.

Remove banksy pieces during open house?, by Matt on Jul 6, 2017 8:17:57 GMT 1, From experience, I can not recommend enough to take it off. Especially if we are talking rare prints
You will have photos snapped, more people than you think will recognise a Banksy. They will show a friend or post on social media and very soon all the details of how to get in and where to find a print are online.
This has lead to 1 theft I know of last year (fortunately caught in the act, the chap admitted to seeing all the details on real estate sites and even visiting the house during the day)
Just replace it with something else if you need to fill the whole in the wall

Remove banksy pieces during open house?, by Deleted on Jul 6, 2017 20:19:58 GMT 1, Condo?
I thought the secret of selling a house or apartment was to have a pot of freshly brewed coffee wafting coffee aroma. Not Banksy prints
I wouldn't leave any valuable prints on the wall personally.
Plus I doubt most people viewing would know the difference between Banksy and Brainwash prints.
If the condo is empty and some dodgy people locally get to know they could easily arragne a viewing to case the joint.
Plus if a print did go missing how could you prove it was on the wall when people came to view if you are not there?

Remove banksy pieces during open house?, by andyroo0312 on Jul 10, 2017 1:35:02 GMT 1, Down in Sydney it has happened often that open days on house sales consist of 20% neighbours just wanting to get a idea what there place may be worth. 55-60% buys ( usually Chinese investors ) and the rest are people that use the opportunity to case out a potential break in. On open days just make sure all sex toys have been hidden away, for some reason people like to pinch them.
