my arguement on this ugly canvas that I bought, yes, is completely one of financial speculation. I surely didn't buy it because it's pretty. And occassionally, once in a millienium, this kind of odds-against speculation turns up ok. And for 35 pounds, why not? Surely won't be the last ugly thing I buy (there's an IKEA just down the block from me).

yeah, (and I know I'm just dreaming here), but with all the stunts Banksy has pulled, what better stunt would there be than releasing a pile of crap on canvas, eventually revealing it's real, and watching as the ugly art bounces around market value all up and down ebay. We all know that a good Banksy canvas sells for a lot of loot, but how much would an authentic bad one sell for? Never going to happen, but still, would be interesting.

I do not buy art soley for financial purposes (thanks for that), but in this case, yes I did. Every Tuesday I'm on TinyShowcase.com buying the prints they sell there, not because any of them ever become worth more than the paper they're on, but because I like them. Most of hte art in my collection is worth nothing to anyone on here but me, and that's just fine. So, just because I admitted to buying a piece for a chance it might be worth something later down the road, dont start pointing fingers. (And PS...Banksy is supplying people who buy art solely for financial purposes and helping them to do so.)

I don't agree with you here. First, what is he doing now even if unintentionally?

Then, let's see the LA prints that have been released (Grannies, Applause, Morons) and the prints that have not been released yet on POW? Do you see a difference? I like Trolley hunters. But when you start selling that many prints of something like that for that much money, I'm not sure I lilke the print anymore if you don't know where the money is going. I should maybe not say that on a fans forum, but it stops somehow to be funny and the print itself stops to have much sense to me....But, I believe this is not a problem?

If ever he would put some real s**t down like this, I would gain much respect for...And I would be certainly more ready to spend 500£ for a trolley hunters print to put it up on my wall...Because, a print like this does not give me emotions...I like it, I found if amusing...But, it has to still be somehow a bit real...

Now, I like what the aquarium did. I don't care if they make money or not... Will Lazarides try to protect a "trademark"? Will someone say I'm Banksy you cannot use my name? Could anybody do it?

If he would ever flow the market with BANKSY, I would LOVE it...Otherwise, I have no problem, but his sentences against the art market are totally empty to me and thus it's why I cannot understand your point....

Yeah but now it doesn't matter that they're not by Banksy. Now there is their own story/myth behind the pieces, and some people (maybe not many) will want them because they are a part of the history of this very bizarre time in the world of art.

And to the couple of people on here who said that even if it was by Banksy, they still wouldn't buy them becasue they're ugly, your pants are officially on fire!
There is not a single person on this forum who wouldn't buy a legit Banksy canvas for 35 pounds, regardless of how ugly it was.

If they would send emails around that they are actually from Banksy they might as well put it on the website. What did you except them to tell you. Yes those are real but we only tell one person by email.
