Somebody didnt get the memo that values of Neate plateaued some time back, some might say they even went down and that is certainly the case after a spate of fake 'street pieces' hit the market.

do you have some examples of this ?
as for the price - well it's a question of s & d.
s of these particular works is afaik not that high.
d is low generally , he seems to have gone off.. doing some postcard work on the seafront.
..the last bit of was a bit of a taunt of course.

I didn't mean to suggest that street pieces and the pitfalls associated with them had devalued the prints but rather the actual street pieces themselves which are now almost worthless without verification which he wont provide and never has.
I sold all mine early on, I mean he used to give them out like candy for lifts in cars and swaps for favours in general.

Which brings me to my last point, personally I totally rate him and I feel his understanding of the wider history of art, his subject matter AND handling of materials, paint etc make him one of the top boys in this country to come out of the 'scene'
If his work is not making a ton of money then that is an injustice.

I sold it along with a bunch of Micallefs (including a mint Friendly Fire for $360.00). The market for Micallef and Neate just collapsed and never recovered. I'm not sure there was ever a real market in the first place. Just speculation and quick flipping. Those were heady times of everything urban selling out in an instant but it was never going to last. Adam Neate giclee prints should never have been released at £1000 or whatever they were back then. At least the dimensional editions are more on track
