DAVID WITH KALASHNIKOV..., by iwouldfollow youanywhere on Sept 3, 2007 18:32:19 GMT 1, yes.. cheaper today though
as I say, this print is smaller than MWWTW for example, plus only 1 colour so I think what I paid is fair and hopefully won't change..
looks great though.. anyone with a Tango will know what to expect regarding crispness of the stencil and richness of the black..

DAVID WITH KALASHNIKOV..., by spirit on Sept 3, 2007 18:53:16 GMT 1, That right hand makes David look like hellboy...
it was the hands that stopped me buying tango too - the ends of the womans fingers are cut off flat - loved it otherwise but I just find the stenciling a bit...well...lazy.

DAVID WITH KALASHNIKOV..., by brainthedog on Sept 3, 2007 19:07:59 GMT 1, his hands and head are larger as the original statue was meant to be displayed on a high pedestal. from a person looking up, it would actually look well in perspective.

It's because she's wearing black nail varnish, I'm very happy with my Last Tango, one of my favourites for sure.

So whats the reasoning for the genitals being the way they are?

DAVID WITH KALASHNIKOV..., by spirit on Sept 3, 2007 21:21:57 GMT 1, CBL- Not dissing your last tango for sure - it was your framed pic that made me fall for it and I think I will probably still end up with it on my wall in the not too distant future - and having seen your close up I take the point about nail varnish - although nobody's nail covers the whole of the top of their finger.... then again stencils are simplified by their very nature...
I guess i'm just saying that the depiction of hands and feet is very tricky and let's a lot of otherwise good works of art down - this has always been true - even some old master's hands and feet leave a bit to be desired...

Yeah, I always wondered why David had such a small cock. ;D ;D ;D
Hey CBL - always a pleasure to see LT. Love that print all the more in that frame. The stencil in far from lazy in my opinion. It's a classic and just look at the movement.

DAVID WITH KALASHNIKOV..., by spirit on Sept 3, 2007 22:07:42 GMT 1, I hereby take back my lazy comment. When I made it I hadn't seen it close up and thought that the ends of her fingers were cut off. I now see they are not. When you look at her thumb you can see that the nails must have been black. I completely agree about the movement in it scavos - that's what made me like it in the first place. Bu**er. Now I want it again...

LIke I said, love the image, just don't get the messgae if there is one

I'm torn between
"Is 'tango and sheep' a one off?"
or
"£175 each isn't bad"
I'll get me coat
Chris

I'll dig some out for you but it will be next week I'm afraid as I'm off on a long weekend early tomorrow.

DAVID WITH KALASHNIKOV..., by slowmo on Sept 6, 2007 10:38:02 GMT 1, Ahh stuey, not any more they're not. Look forward to seeing the master stuff next week spirit. If anyone wants to see amazing detail on skin, hands and feet, check out Lucas Cranach at the Courtauld Institute in London. These paintings are now knocking on for 500 years old, but bloody hell they are good!
