to each their own.
After I've applied the filters and cut the stencil they look very different than the original photo.

Banksy also uses other peoples images, you know that print 'I fought the law and I won'? Someone over here found the original photo of that some time ago... The thing is, he made it his own by using his own style to make something nice of it. I did that too, you may disagree but then again people like it so I'm happy.

Yes he did, as I said he made it his own, just as i did.

I know stencil revolution and i've posted lao ren on there. They do have some halftones, but not of old faces and definitely not the ones I used.

I'd loved to shoot my own photos, but where do i find a guy from buthan? Or a thai guy? I wanted the series to be oriental en exotic without spending al my money on some flight tickets, maybe when i'm older i can do that sort of stuff.

Trebor, fair, never seen that one before though. But thats the risk of using a pic from the internet.

Although its the same original pic, the results and work put in it are way different.

What with the preorder thing :S? I do not charge people who are on the preorder list, when a face is done I mail the person who preorderd it. They still can decide if they dont want it. So If you really dont know what youre talking about, please shut up.

I wouldn't have a picture of my own grandad on my walls and certainly wouldn't have a picture of someone elses grandad on my walls!

stencils aren't inately full of character because they are super fine, it's just a matter of copying, and without anything interesting to say, it's like dull hallmark art for the newly minted art illiterati who lack taste and discernment and so sanction any old tosh. vive le difference, sometimes you lot are slavish and dull, i'm off to bed....

Seriously, what is your problem. First of all, I made the first one, Lao ren, for fun. Just because I wanted to practise my stencil skills and do something nice.

I was very happy with the results and put it on the internet not really expecting anyone would buy it. But they did, there was alot of interest and I was asked to do a series of 5.

And if your not happy with it, please move on, your wasting your time because the series are going to be cut anyway.

Oh and btw, why don't you complain about lets say jef areosol? He sometimes uses photo's of famous people to make his stencils, but thats oke with you?
(btw jef, i love your work, i was just making a point from his point of view..)

I'm going to spray the canvasses now for the second guy.

bet your mum flips out. if i ever used to get so much of a crumb on my floor my mum used to go nuts, then i went to uni and did'nt worry about the crumbs. No i have my own place i take more notice of the crumbs than ever.

Damn Crumbs.
