Kendell Geers Exhibition, by misteraitch on Oct 6, 2007 16:48:19 GMT 1, Just come back from an amazing exhibition with MrsH at the Baltic Mill by a South African Artist - Kendeel Geer.
There are some absolutely striking pieces on show - in fact I'd go so far as to say it's the best thing I've seen on there since the 'Spank The Monkey' show came up here. [IMHO obviously]
If you're up in Newcastle between now and the 6th January pop into the Baltic and have a look at his work - I think you might like it. ;D
In Art speak...
"His work pushes for the limits of accepted moral codes and principles in order to collapse them and start again. Geers questions the psychology of things you cannot control, things beyond the gallery space that art cannot touch, from extreme phenomena to emotional states. Employing a strategy of disruption, using weapons of sexuality, violence and fear, his work is where language and value systems become physical."
I wouldn't know about any of that but his 'f*ckhead' tickled me no end ;D
