Or had a dealer advisor whatever taking advantage of him, which would not be unusual.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Art Collection, by mose on Aug 18, 2017 22:24:15 GMT 1, I saw that Walton Ford back a few years ago at Paul Kasmin Gallery. As anyone who was seen Ford's work in person knows, it was mindblowingly amazing. Jaw-dropping.
Of what is shown, that Metropolis poster would be my pick.

I'm not a fan of him as an actor. And the impression I have of him as a person is that he's a partying playboy that loves to tout his philanthrophic efforts and enlightened opinions about the world. And bang supermodels. It all screams douchebag to me, but that's just me.

He's given 10's of millions to charitable causes and has raised over 100mil in charitable contributions from others. Point being he is in fact philanthropic (which can only be a good thing) and maybe his opinions actually are enlightened over some. 🤷🏻♂️Nothing wrong with successful people enjoying art or life for that matter.

I wouldn't. I wish I had his money. But I'm a grown man. Yacht parties and 22 year old blonde models lost their appeal after I turned 30. I prefer real women. Also, I can't imagine anything I want less than fame and celebrity. I'd rather be poor, honestly

If you can use your fame to create good in the world, then do it. Flaunt every bit of it to try and make a difference in another's life.

Am I not allowed to think he's a douchebag just because he does charitable work? Okay thought police.
Sorry if I'm not that impressed when someone who has an exorbitant amount of resources and money uses some of it for good. Especially when every "good act" he does also happens to be a tax write off and good publicity for his career. This guy is so obscenely rich that he hasn't even bothered to make a movie in two years.
Most people don't have the time and money to devote to "making the world a better place" because they are too busy trying to survive poverty or stay middle class.
I dont even want to respond to your question because it was dumb, but I will because you picked the wrong person to chastise. I donate more money to charities than I can probably afford, and I can't even keep track of all the time I've spent volunteering and doing community outreach over the years.

If you feel that you are in a position to judge a man you've never met based on the fact he likes to have sex with pretty women and has been involved in many incredible films that you obviously don't like then so be it.
If you're involved in charity work and outreach programs then I fully applaud you. Keep it up. If only more people would lend a helping hand.

Who doesn't love Basquiat? That was my point; saying you covet a Basquiat canvas nowadays is like saying you would love to own a van gogh or matisse.... am I the only one who thinks it's normal to associate Basquiat with that level of universal acclaim/popularity? I hope not.

Probably knew a lot of people who knew Basquiat before he passed, etc. - anyway, seems genuine to me.

Unlike many who post remarks similar to those you made about DiCaprio, you had a huge advantage: the self-awareness to realise your willingness to judge and publicly criticise was motivated by the expectation of envy.
And yet you commented anyway.
With the luxury of choice, why not listen to that helpful inner voice and just abstain? First, it's simpler. Second, it's the difference between noble restraint and advertising oneself as petty.

It all screams douchebag to me, but that's just me. So essentially, Leo is Bruce Wayne. Kind of cool, actually.

In exchange for zero anonymity and strangers condemning me, I guess I'd make the most of buying art too. By the way, he's a totally regular guy. Really cool. Except with a ton of cash.
I appreciate his appreciation. Metropolis, Ruscha, Crumb and Basquint all good. In exchange for zero anonymity and strangers condemning me, I guess I'd make the most of buying art too. By the way, he's a totally regular guy. Really cool. Except with a ton of cash.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Art Collection, by Daniel Silk on May 21, 2021 5:58:27 GMT 1, Looking at the Art, it almost looks like he’s not really interested in Art, but he feels like he needs to have an art collection to complete with his Hollywood friends, Don’t you think?
Very random pieces.
