Exactly. Palestine needs cash and hopefully a sustainable tourist industry- that's why he's done it and fair play.

Banksy, Walled Off Hotel, GIFT SHOP, by Lroy on Sept 7, 2017 18:37:21 GMT 1, This people are missing the real thing to get here - its the grappling hook. Essentially a banksy sculpture. Thats why it says 'orders being taken'. Sod the print! The print is essentially a little poster in a frame - will be heavy as well if thats real rock? must be limited though. no chance of it being signed or authenticated in any way. Nice momento - good luck getting any rock in your baggage allowance! Print not worth travelling for though. Those who are all of a sudden wanting to go to a war zone to see the hotel because of something you can buy. really? Why not the interest before? these Banksy sculptures are amazing ! They remember also a great artist that everybody knows.. he was at Dismaland. Innit ?

Banksy, Walled Off Hotel, GIFT SHOP, by Snakes on Sept 7, 2017 20:28:45 GMT 1, Went 2 yrs ago in Palestine alone, looking for his works. I would love to get back beginning next year but I remember that leaving Israel was a nightmare, security is massive and I'm not sure they will allow pieces of wall in my luggage (every single item in it was double checked last time). Need to think about it... Would be suprised if they let you fly with a glazed framed picture within your hand luggage. Take a tube in preparation for the print but just make sure it does not look like a mortar tube!

Banksy, Walled Off Hotel, GIFT SHOP, by larsson on Sept 7, 2017 20:29:23 GMT 1, I currently live and work in Ramallah. I'll visit the Walled Off Hotel tomorrow and check out the situation with the gift shop and post an update tomorrow afternoon.
I remember taking photographs of Banksy originals on Leake street under Waterloo station circa 2006 - but never thought to buy a print at the time (more fool me). It'll be nice to finally purchase an official print (even if these are unsigned and unnumbered).
In my opinion the Instragram "Free Palestine" large souvenir wall section is better than the "Love" piece posted on official merchandise shop - but then living and working here, I guess I'm biased.
A couple of other things:
[1] If you're thinking of coming out I would recommend the Taybeh "Oktoberfest" scheduled for September 16th & 17th 2017 in Taybeh, Palestine. It's the weekend after next and a riot by all accounts. PM me if you're going.
[2] Long before there was Banksy there was Naji al-Ali (bear with me - the blurb below is worth reading)
"Naji al-Ali (1938–87) was a Palestinian political cartoonist. He drew over 40,000 cartoons, from sharply critical commentaries on Palestinian and Arab politics and political leaders to visionary symbols of inhumanity and the pity of war, which transcended the divides. Born in Galilee, al-Ali was a victim of the nakba (“disaster”) in 1948 when his region was cleared to make way for Jewish settlers. He grew up in Lebanese refugee camps and prisons, scribbling protest cartoons on the walls, and eventually found work in newspapers. From 1969 onwards, his images featured the figure of Handala, the barefoot child whosilently watches all the evils perpetrated in the Middle East, and who has since become an icon of Palestinian defiance. Naji al-Ali was shot by unknown assailants outside the offices of ‘al-Qabas’, a Kuwaiti newspaper, in London on and died five weeks later in August 1997."
There will be a 30 year anniversary tribute event on Friday 27 October at the British Library to remember the life, work and legacy of Naji al-Ali - the great Palestinian cartoonist.
More details here: www.bl.uk/events/naji-al-ali-a-tribute
This article "Revisiting the great Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali 30 years after his assassination" is well worth reading: www.pri.org/stories/2017-08-31/revisiting-great-palestinian-cartoonist-naji-al-ali-30-years-after-his
Apologies for the long post.
Ps. I doubt buyers will be able to buy more than one item per person, but as I said I'll post an update tomorrow. Slow internet here in Palestine no doubt played a role in missing out on recent Pejac and Invader prints - it's nice / odd to be back to a place where I'm going to walk into an actual shop and hand over cash for a product I can see.
Ps. If you are in Bethlehem Zuwadeh Deli does great pizza and coffee and it's worth getting a taxi to Hosh Jasmin for a beer at sunset and party afterwards.
It goes without saying that Palestinians are lovely - and it's safe to visit.

Banksy, Walled Off Hotel, GIFT SHOP, by Howard Johnson on Sept 7, 2017 21:12:26 GMT 1, I fell off of my chair laughing at someone asking for a "poster buddy." Ha ha ha. "Please inconvenience yourself so I can make a few thousand dollars. Please, I'm a true fan." G, T, F, and O.
Bit harsh eh? I'm not a fan, in fact I don't really like Banksy prints beyond a handful that I own or will never be able to afford. This is a cool image that I'd actually hang and enjoy. I also wouldn't ask someone to grab me one if I was gonna flip it. Notice how I didn't offer cash? A favor is one thing but once you start paying for the privilege it's just another transaction.
No need to stop the hating, all part of the fun; just couldn't sit back n let someone tell me to f*uck off without responding.
