Bitcoin, by singo369 on Dec 24, 2017 0:33:06 GMT 1, Not that I am super into the Bitcoin conversation but seriously, what the hell with the unwelcoming responses of members on here stating this isn't a place for discussion and to go elsewhere? Just for contextual example of discussions on our beloved " art forum".... 17 pages of discussion on Trump 11 pages of discussion on Theresa May50 pages of discussion on Brexit20 pages of discussion on Spurs vs Arsenal Now some folks want to talk bitcoins and the like and all of a sudden its not welcome on the "art forum"? Can we all be a bit more tolerant and hospitable? Maybe just for Xmas?
This should win post of the year! Let's all have a 'happy new year'....Best wishes everyone!

Bitcoin, by cnrdvln on Dec 24, 2017 12:01:10 GMT 1, Anyone have any thoughts on trading Litecoin for Bitcoin right now? 10 Litecoin get me 0.2 Bitcoin. Seems a good time to trade... Absolutely not giving financial advice here - just my own brain dump...
The road map for litecoin looks good, they are focusing on merchants in 2018, meaning the legitimacy and adoption of using it as an actual day to day currency becomes more real. Even their site has changed recently to reflect the new focus.
Bitcoin on the other hand is growing into a hodl asset, too slow and expensive to use as a day to day currency.
So it really depends do you want a cheap currency now or an asset?
The currency one is funny - if we think of a globally used currency, the market cap / amount of coins is quite low if the whole world is to use it, hence the high price for fractions of it. I think that as it becomes more widely used (any alt coin) the price will naturally increase given there is only one currency to be used world wide. What happens when emerging nations start adopting it, similar to Mpesa in Africa (text message money)?.

How much has it dropped in value in 24 hours and what was BTC's all time high? www.coingecko.com/en/price_charts/bitcoin/usd#panelThanks..... So for those who don't know about BTC, like me, it's value back at the start of Oct was around $4000 and in ten weeks it had peaked at $19,000 and has settled at $14,000..... That's amazing, what is the next big coin?

Don’t invest. It’s not for you. You can’t be 50/50. You’ll have to believe in the change for the better. If you don’t believe in it and envelope yourself in it. You’ll lose money.
Best bet may be testing the water with a very low amount and see if you can do something by just holding.

Are they on Kraken No I have a weird thing about eToro - I always thought you were betting on the futures rather than owning the coin or asset but I'm probably wrong there.
For the above I'll need to go through KuCoin (no authentication to sign up). I'll move ETH there to buy the coins. Bit of a pain I'll say - I usually stick to BitPanda and Bittrex but they are not available there.
FYI Kraken never worked for me - looks great but buggy and always crashed I had to leave it.

Hey, doing pretty good. I've spread across 17 different coins and have profit of 367% and growing. Using my tactic of HODL, I only spent coins to transfer for the purchasing of other currencies some are doing much better than others but all are in the green except for one.
I know I got a lot of stick for it on here with people calling me an idiot or amateur or wotnot but the truth is I AM an amateur, I'm not a 'trader' and certainly wouldn't delude myself into thinking anything otherwise!
I'm enjoying the learning process and this summer have made 5x my annual salary

Bitcoin, by cnrdvln on Jan 3, 2018 17:41:32 GMT 1, Actually speaking of blockchain use cases - there is a UK gallery I think (might be wrong about location) that uses blockchain smart contracts as a COA.
It completely eliminates copies or fakes being sold - small but cool way to use blockchain tokens.
If all galleries adopted the same token, it would solve the issue of fakes and increase the secondary market as trust would increase with new prints carrying a token

Each gallery or artist would set the rules.
Similar to Pest Control not giving out a COA for a year, the token from the gallery could carry the same rules - making it un-shareable for a set amount of time.... definitely something in it for the art community
Now we just need a committed dev ops and front end developer.
I'm a digital PM so we're sorted there
