Bitcoin, by highflyer on Feb 6, 2018 14:55:03 GMT 1, Where are the peacocks in full strut? Bitcoin has fallen by 17.48% over the past 24 hours alone, 37% over the past week, and by more than 61% over the past month. Even worse drops in the last 24 hours for Ethereum, the second most valuable digital currency, down 21.37%, while Ripple XRP, the third most valuable digital currency, is down 16.86%. Bitcoin Cash and Cardano, which complete the top five, are down 21.49% and 15.36% respectively. Populous, the 22nd biggest digital currency, has suffered the biggest decline of the top 100, having fallen by 36.11%.
What's your point? Your figures are not correct either. But what is your point?

Bitcoin, by moron on Feb 6, 2018 16:44:07 GMT 1, A month ago I posted that Bitcoin value will drop to 6K in a months time. The frenzy and hype which pushed the value up to over 14K was obvious it was pushed up by certain big players who can afford to write off any losses. Bren also said the price would drop.
If it's all about the block chain, then why is a Bitcoin worth more than a Lite coin or Ethereum etc. they al use the same blockchain. basicaly because the traders and dealers have steered buyers investors towards investing in which it is not really investing, it's more akin to exchanging money as in physical money for the opportunity to posess something virtual which does not exist in reality apart from that it's just a bunch of numbers generated by some computers and called mining to con people into beleiving that bitcoin mining is the same as gold mining. It isn't.
So if it's all about the blockchain which is free and Litecoin is an application which comes across as more usable for trading physical goods and services, sort of an addition to Paypal and wire transfers and rubber cheques etc. Don't be surprised to see a huge Bitcoin dump within the next three months.
The traders have sucked all the blood out of Bitcoin buyers and moving on to fresh pastures as all swarms of locusts do.

Quite an interesting read. Probably upset some people depending where you sit on this.
Personally i have lost quite a bit in crypto over the last week by not closing out positions just to be open.
Seems like everyone is an expert and no one has lost anything.

Although the thread title is Bitcoin I started it as a place to talk about Blockchain technology, the thread lies in the tech section of the forum.
Bitcoin gets a bad press and sadly the negativity gets brushed onto the whole Crypto world which is actually incredibly innovative and has much potential.
Blockchain technology can be implemented in the art world to provide watertight COA provenance for example.

I'm not sure I get why this would be the case.
Happy to be educated, but even before we get into the problem of security, hacks, misappropriation of tokens (including at knife point I read recently)... How does an artwork make it to a ledger?
For new works fine, I can see how it would work. But that is but the tiniest fraction of the value, and really no-one cares much. No money to be made. And it's hardly THAT much more effective than keeping a record of the credit card transaction.
For existing works, how would it happen? Presumably one would have to prove ownership in the first place. So by design, it is the same as now...

Yes you would need to take the work to somewhere that was authorised so they could give the work a digital stamp. It would work well for say Pest Control. Once a peice had been in then you wouldn’t ever need a COA again after that point as the registered keeper would always be update on blockchain. Now apply that to any item of value and think of the application of use related to insurance. companies.

I don't think it's the bad press that gives off the most negativity, it's Everyman thinking that they are some kind off Wall Street legend that pisses people off the most. People who are into it should just carry on, no need to tell everyone about it. It makes the whole thing comparable to Juice Plus or more recently essientail oils, a pyramid scheme where getting people to sign up comes second to the actual product.

I think the best part of it is trying to make people aware that there's an opportunity here for humanity to decentralize our global economy.
Keeping all this hush hush wouldn't serve those who believe in the vision.

Hmmm.... Like most mooted blockchain applications it strikes me that this is a weak solution to a small problem.
Either you can prove authenticity, in which case you don't need this.
Or you can't, in which case you won't get a look in

Bitcoin, by Sliding on the Walls on Feb 7, 2018 9:59:50 GMT 1, BTC yesterday was $5.9k now it's $7.7k
Naysayers: Do you think this is a dead cat bounce? Or is this the beginning of recovery? Interesting to witness either way.
Whilst the timing is quite convenient to only hear about it now - I saw something circulating yesterday which alleges that on January 5th, when BTC prices were $17,000 , at a dark web forum somebody called 'CyberJourno' posted:
"Guys, there are big players in play, big industrial players who want to bring the price down to $7000, I know it seems impossible now but these guys handle the media and know how to control the market. For the coming couple of months guys, stay safe, dont be scared. Brace for FUD FUD FUD!"
On Jan 5th there were two other comments on multiple forums in the Russian and South Korean social sites that suggested a biggr market manipulation in play. Interpreted and translated versions of the comments read: "Waiting for US, South Korea, Indian and Thai markets to break negative stories by February, prices to stoop back to $5000. Big market players waiting to invest millions in Bitcoin and smaller Crypto counterparts. It's easy to guess, find the common corporate entity that controls media houses in these countries. Make your connection."
The same information also suggests a consolidation of around $14k by March second week, which also ties in with Cliff High's prediction (made a year ago) of $13,888 at the mid-end of Feb.
BTC yesterday was $5.9k now it's $7.7k
Naysayers: Do you think this is a dead cat bounce? Or is this the beginning of recovery? Interesting to witness either way.
Whilst the timing is quite convenient to only hear about it now - I saw something circulating yesterday which alleges that on January 5th, when BTC prices were $17,000 , at a dark web forum somebody called 'CyberJourno' posted:
