Bitcoin, by 63schoefflin on Nov 14, 2017 12:59:07 GMT 1, Ha, yeah.... by holding I get fucked. Makes a lot of sense. I don’t hold any form of BTC and definitely don’t plan on hoping back into it anytime soon. I’m very, very happy where I’m at right now.
There is money to be made by trading, but good luck if you want to try your hand at it.
Time in the market beats timing the market.

I know a kid who has been beating the markets since he was 8, this isn't hard. It's just you hv too much bias by the time you are an adult and you are too stubborn to change.

Bitcoin, by 63schoefflin on Nov 14, 2017 13:55:10 GMT 1, Again, I’m not trying to beat markets here... I have no idea why you think most people in this forum are. I work a full time job and keep up with this on the side. If I can’t dedicate enough time to looking at charts all day, I’m not going to try and day trade.
I guess you have made zillions though since you sound like you know everything. What’s coming this week... out of curiosity?

Bitcoin, by moron on Nov 15, 2017 15:16:32 GMT 1, Interesting read:
One Bitcoin transaction takes more energy than a household uses in a weekAlthough Bitcoin has suffered a dramatic fall in value over the past several days, 2017 has seen Bitcoin’s value reach new heights – and the cryptocurrency has an enormous energy footprint. Even simple transactions with Bitcoin consume large amounts of energy. Roughly 300,000 Bitcoin transactions occur each day – and each one uses 215 kilowatt-hours (KWh) of energy – enough to power an American household for a week. Bitcoins are created by “mining,” a process which involves running a powerful computing system so that it may solve complex cryptographic puzzles and produce a Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin is proportional to the amount of electricity that can profitably be used to extract Bitcoin from a computing rig. When the price rises, miners must compensate by adding more powerful computing components, which then adds to the energy bill. Motherboard estimates that, at a minimum, the energy used by global Bitcoin extraction network at present could power 821,940 average American homes daily. Related: This Russian cottage is heated for free with Bitcoin mining What does this energy consumption mean for climate change and the environment? Using data available from a coal-powered Bitcoin mine in Mongolia, the Digiconomist determined that this single mine produces the emissions equivalent of 203,000 car kilometers traveled per hour of mining. When asked by Motherboard whether this energy problem might be fixed as the system matures, the Digiconomist responded that “Blockchain is inefficient tech by design, as we create trust by building a system based on distrust.” Bitcoin transactions are thousands of times less efficient than credit card transactions, by design. In the brave new world of Bitcoin, it seems that unless drastic changes are made, the cryptocurrency will continue to consume enormous amounts of energy. Well, Internet is a large consumer of energy... Very few people are addressing this issue but yeah Internet is emitting lot of carbone too, this is the reason why big Internet players are buying lands in cold country to have servers installed there as it will not required full Air Con rooms. Yep, people, think about it, especially when you share or watch a useless video. I just read interview of French mathematician and philosopher who actually said that the day we will realise that all our e-products (e-cars, e-garbage, e-fridge, e-cat-feeder, etc.) are in fact using more energy than our standard products, it will be a major breakdown So Bitcoin mining is stealing peoples electricity in effect.
I added coinblock to my different browsers and I guess if every browser had a built in coinblock, the bitcoin mining would grind to a halt a sit wouldn't be worth the miners doing it because of huge electricity bills.

Dexter, just hold your nerve if you see short term fluctuations. This is a milestone which many people may have used as a point of sale. That said, many will be in a similar position to yourself and just be getting involved now.

Btw, is there a ballpark amount of GBP/USD after which one should look at a wallet? Don't have a massive holding, but it's growing

I did some reading before I bought mine and the general consensus was, you should put whatever you are not comfortable with losing if your account was hacked is when you get a wallet. I love my Ledger, very easy to use. I pulled everything off to sell this week. It took less than 30minutes for the transfer to be completed and coins available through coinbase. Only the second time using it since I bought it and very simple. Also I saw it on sale via Amazon yesterday.

Some don't like the added security, physical token, pin typed on token... things I like for security.

Bitcoin, by cnrdvln on Nov 28, 2017 22:58:41 GMT 1, would recommend BitPanda for great exchange rates and a simple wallet to boot - limited coin options though.
Ripple is breaking my heart to buy and please stay clear of changelly - crazy crazy rates that first time buyers are drawn to because of the simple layout and visa / mastercard purchase functionality

Shitcoin.
Any your point is?
We all have Google. If we want to know the price of Bitcoin we can find it quite easily. We don't need you writing on here every time it goes up because you're an over excited child who has just discovered trading. It adds no value. Find the reason why it's up and post that if anything (yes very clever, more buyers than sellers). It's embarrassing, take it to a Bitcoin forum, where they'll also probably tell you to f off.
