There have been a few auctions on ebay, one was listed at 8k with a 10k buy it now. if you are looking for that price, i would recommend taking it to auction. Retna's market is all over the place so its really hard to pin point a fair price on his work.

I completely agree with you. The market for his work is all over the place like you said. The framing costs for two prints at this size was a pretty penny so it's definitely set at a high price. I would certainly entertain reasonable offers for sure. I've been saving up for a banksy and if I get something decent for these I'll be at the amount I need. They're truly stunning in person with the diamond dust! Thanks for the good luck wishes!

Says the guy with the best retna collection on the forum; your cut off! lol. Never bought from OP personally, but have quite enjoyed our conversations in the past. IMHO, this is these are the best multiples Retna has produced to date. Despite his questionable morals, Retna is undoubtedly one of the best painters of our generation. On the other hand, the jury is still out on Harland Miller (although I will admit that I was initially a hater and eventually came around to his work; amazing sense of humor). My two cents: screw the hype train, keep the set, and hope/pray Miller's prices take a drop. Good luck on your sale/hunt!

Thank you for the support! Always been a pleasure in the past.....honestly I'm torn and wouldn't be devastated if I just kept them. Totally agree Harland Miller is still up in the air as well, but like you, I've become quite the fan. Definitely wouldnt mind Millers market taking a quick dip so I could get in and not sell anything in the process! |

But thatโs my 2 cents on using places like that with massive hype and ultra rich people in attendance as basis for prices of non unique art works

Don't know about the piece or its value but you can't compare art fair prices which are easily 2 to 3 times higher than the same regular gallery prices at other times. And then gallery prices with public market value...
Galleries have to take into account all the expenses involved at showing at Basel. Booth cost/Booth Set Up/Shipping/Insurance/ Expenses and obviously they impact it back in the price asked.Depending on the artwork they take offers and discount pretty easily.
They also play the hype of people wanting to buy something at Basel. For some people, $20k is cheap change. Add that the category of art consultant with no limit "I don't care I trust my advisers" client.
I see stuff priced at $100k than aren't even worth $20/$25k and a lot of them sell.
