Well what's the entry point for a PC COA piece today ? 10k ? Probably more ?

The seller had been registered on this forum for years, had multiple previous experiences of selling Walled Off pieces here and buyers were happy with him and recommanding him publicly in his sales thread. The piece was indeed sent from bethlehem and to be honest I was not aware of faked boxset yet.
So yes, I'll admit it, that was a green light for me. At least, I've been lucky, have my money back and there's one less dishonest person on this forum

I just like the piece and this was a nice opportunity to buy one.
Was supposed to go to the hotel in April 2020 but as the pandemy striked down, everything was cancelled.

First of all thank you for posting your experience because it will definitely help other forum members to be astute and not spent money on scammers. I have only one question. You say that he had made several sales here and he was a member for a long time. Perhaps I am wrong because I didn't pay much attention but when I checked his history there were very few postings (it could be the case he had begun deleting his history, hence the very few comments). Did he have also a second account here? Or was this his only one? And if he gave you any references perhaps one should give a heads up to the other members that had bought from the same person to double check the items they purchased?

First, thank you for posting. It's bad that you were sold a fake, but at least you were refunded due to the damage.
And thanks to met for the investigative work. I imagine a lot of forum users went to inspect their box sets with an elevated heart rate after seeing the pics he posted.
As a sidenote to your comment about using goods /services as the PayPal method: I always use a credit card that includes buyer protection in addition to PayPal, since it provides a secondary recourse if PayPal is too slow or not helpful. My card offers me buyer protection for a year (at least) and I have been able to get a full refund through them on the rare occasion that PayPal refuses (for example if I used Friends and Family). I have to fill out a lot of paperwork, but it has saved me thousands of dollars in the past, so I just wanted to pass on the tip.
Lastly, if there are fake box sets, there are fake souvenir walls - maybe even good fakes. Be extra careful out there. I imagine the explosion in prices throughout 2020 has fueled some really good fakes of just about everything Banksy.

If I remember well he had 13-15msg here and a 4-5 yo account
Most messages were sales threads (3-4) and answers to people thanking him for the smooth transaction and shipping

Either or both could match up with an individual the hotel has previously dealt with (e.g. a gift shop customer) — which might possibly help staff put two and two together, and actually identify a Banksy box set counterfeiter.
