The price now is $400 and sleeps 4 so just a heads up as all the other rooms sell out quickly if group trip planned with mates

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Unica on Oct 11, 2017 21:47:06 GMT 1, There is a first edition with original glass for 6gs on the bay I'm thinking it may be a good investment 😂😂 I'd pass on the glass one myself, bigger chance of the glass breaking and destroying the print, I'll wait for a plexi, handmade frame for under $1500. It might not happen but maybe in 6 months it might, its still a good mark up on a $180 print, especially if you can buy 8 at a time, I'm sure if production will be ramped up if its move locally. Then again the hotel may close and that it, no more box sets.

Thanks im heading back next month but are in a different room this time. Thats a good saving on the suite as i think it was about $900 a night or summit, 4 of us stayed in it when we were there.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by jhonnyboy on Oct 12, 2017 0:07:05 GMT 1, If I can just add a few thoughts to this thread
1. This is a giclee print on Somerset satin or similar paper 2. It's limited as otherwise they would continue printing and selling for ever 3. They sell Maximum 20 a day they started selling on the 07/09/17 and stopped on 10/10/17 that's 34 days so the MAXIMUM number there can be is 680 I know for a fact on some days they were only selling 10 then you have to take into account the fact that most people stay a few nights so they already have one and can't buy another. I think a fair average would be to say they have sold 10 a day everyday that's a total of 340 in the original version. 4. The original wording was very deliberate "an ACTUAL chiseled off piece of wall" that's not a typo to use the word actual in that context is pointing out this is a piece of actual wall, what wall? We don't know. They now say "a chunk of concrete" that's very different wording and leaves me in no doubt the product has changed. 5.The reason for the paint on the wall piece is for identification at a later date its as good as a number pest have photographed each one and obviously each one is unique 6.Pest WILL issue COA for these in the future they are Banksy prints not posters these are £125 not £5 7.These were being made in the UK and shipped to the hotel so I don't understand the reason of ikea being out of stock for the change as I know 100% there is plenty of stock in the uk . Also if you believe these were made on site that would mean Banksy going into Israel and buying goods from an Israel ikea? It doesn't really fit with the message of the piece. That leaves one explanation making these at the studio in the uk and shipping to isreal was taking too long and too much hassle to do. Imagine how long it takes to shape each stone paint them wait for paint to dry fit the print etc. so production has moved to Palestine with the same local artists who decorated the wall sculptures used to shape the concrete and put them together. That's why they have to change the frames as they will not spend money in an isreal ikea.
8. so then that poses a question which ones will be rarer? In my opinion it's easy the original version why? It has an actual piece of wall it's made at Banksy studio under his supervision. It also has now been discontinued from sell so what's out there in that version is all there ever will be. I said earlier we can assume a figure of 340 but my personal guess is that there are no more than 200 in the ikea frames out there. So anyone with a pre 10/10/2017 receipt in my view will have the best and rarest piece. I also feel now production has switched to Palestine they will produce far greater numbers for a much longer period of time unless you think the new version will only be on sale for 34 days or less?
9. I cannot believe people are even considering selling these for 2k this is an official Banksy print with in comparison to other prints a very low print run.
10. These aren't just Banksy prints I think people are missing the point this is a mixed media Banky print/sculpture a print comes on its own. This comes presented in the way Banksy intended it in the frame with a piece of wall used in the composition. How many other mixed media works like this can you point to that Banksy has released? In fact how many of you own Banksy prints? And how many own mixed media works?
11. And finally a thought experiment let's assume that what I've said was correct ie 1: it's an addition of 200 2: it's a mixed media piece 3: pest issue a COA
What value in 1 year from now would you put on it?

Too many assumptions your going off of to warrant more. There’s no saying where the ‘first edition’ were made, even if it was at his studio it’s crazy to think he spent a month assembling gift shop box sets for £100 a piece profits. So why would assembly location effect desirability? Sure PC could eventually be issued but it’s still unsigned and unnumbered unlike every other high value Banksy print. End of the day it will always be more comparable to the petrol bomb than a actual editioned Banksy.

11. And finally a thought experiment let's assume that what I've said was correct ie 1: it's an addition of 200 2: it's a mixed media piece 3: pest issue a COA What value in 1 year from now would you put on it? Hype hype hype hype. This is ridiculous.
Yeah agree
One thing is a little strange though - the new version states ‘unauthenticated’. This was not stated on the original first version. They are very careful with wording as well normally. The receipts are dated as well. Just like they clarified the wall bit.
If I can just add a few thoughts to this thread 1. Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by NYart on Oct 12, 2017 0:52:02 GMT 1, It seems to me they weren’t careful with their wording originally, leading people to believe it was a piece of THE wall, not a concrete wall. Also probably got overwhelmed with PC requests for it so now specify uncertified. It seems to me the only difference now is the frame. Also assumptions but just as plausible as the rest circling around.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by jhonnyboy on Oct 12, 2017 0:53:27 GMT 1, Too many assumptions your going off of to warrant more. End of the day it will always be more comparable to the petrol bomb than a actual editioned Banksy. if these were made in Palestine then the frames were purchased in Israel I doubt that considering what the print stands for. I don't know if you've been to Palestine recently but I don't think they have an ikea. You'd really compare this to a petrol bomb ones a poster and the other is a mixed media piece. Name me one other Banksy release where it comes framed and with another media used in the composition?

I never said it wasn’t unique. But on a spectrum of a clearly limited, numbered, signed, PC certified edition to a unsigned unnumbered piece its much closer to the following. At least petrol bombers was clearly stated to be limited.

This is the much more rational take away.
Can you be shocked though by the irrational speculation and attempt to hype. Haha

Middle class graduates? How do you know the demographics of the pest control staff? Is that the threshold for not being stupid as well? Who does the vetting for approving what makes the gift shop website? What makes you think a group that isn’t stupid would promote people chisel off chunks of the wall risking their lives to sell to tourists? Unless you have some inside knowledge your just making ridiculous assumptions trying to hype up something that for all intents and purposes is nothing other than what it’s claimed to be. And that’s an unlimited inexpensive souvenir.

Not at all about hyping in general but at least hype it for what it is.. but we’re borderlining conspiracy theories over these. Reminds me of when people were calling dismaland screen printed shirts Banksy screen prints lol.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by tab1 on Oct 12, 2017 7:37:38 GMT 1, The initial production set up in the uk , by releasing merchandise this was to kickstart guests as previously hotel numbers were declining , this has now worked increasing bookings , To drive down production costs (uk wage) and exporting costs , now made in house. If they increased print cost at source wouldn’t attract as many to travel there . Further down the line will be difference in value as of all variations .

Not sure about the box sets but I know they keep records of all the wall sculptures by photographing them before selling.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by helium on Oct 12, 2017 8:11:36 GMT 1, If I can just add a few thoughts to this thread 1. 11. And finally a thought experiment let's assume that what I've said was correct ie 1: it's an addition of 200 2: it's a mixed media piece 3: pest issue a COA What value in 1 year from now would you put on it? Do you own one in an Ikea frame by any chance?
You say it's a official banksy The website says uncertified The pictures of multiple box sets suggest more are being sold than one per stay It's not a edition of 200 it's an edition of about 20,000
