I'm sure Carl said they're a plaster cast, or similar. I'd assume concrete would be too heavy, and they're all identically shaped, so can't be a real piece of wall.
The spray colour (red or green, or both) is generally only on the flat front side... although I guess that could change over time depending on who's doing the spraying!

All sorts of unpredictable factors could undermine the value. For another, unless you have an undeclared source of unlimited box sets then you have a problem with the maths. Your campaign is looking for $15,000 - say you collected that in minimum chunks of $800, you would need 19 box sets (including the one you want to keep for yourself) to fulfil your promise. I don't care what you say above, there is something dodgy going on if you are certain you can go to Bethlehem for a few days and come home with 19 box sets. And if you're not sure then you're simply making a personal guarantee you know you can't keep. For a third, even if you could get your hands on the 19 box sets, the maths suggest this is nothing but a cynical rip-off of your contributors. I haven't checked the price of a trip to Palestine from the USA, but let's say it would set you back $3,000. Each box set will cost you another $150, so that's also $3,000 or so. Chuck in another $1,000 for expenses and I see you're trying to screw your contributors for an 8k profit. Pretty disingenuous of you not to mention that you don't just want them to buy you a Banksy but to pay your rent for six months too. On the plus side, I'm reassured to see that contributions are still at zero.
This post was an enjoyable read. It was considered, and also came across as an exercise in (at least partial) restraint.

For over a decade, I have been an avid fan of the anonymous British street artist known by the name “Banksy”. If you know and love his work as I do, then you can appreciate that this artist is one of the greats of our generation, and he will be remembered like Jeff Koons in the 80’s, Andy Warhol in the 60’s, and Pablo Picasso in the 50’s.
One of my greatest dreams it to own a real piece of art created by Banksy, but if you know anything about his work, you know that anything he has done that is not in the public domain, i.e. prints, lithographs, and authenticated original one-offs (by Pest-Control) run in the tens of thousands to millions of dollars US. A price a modest family man can not afford.
In the beginning of 2017 Banksy decided to open a hotel in the West Bank of Israel. Located in Bethlehem right in front of the “Wall” that separates the Israeli border from the Palestinian sections, it was created as part fundraiser for the community, part political statement, and part art installation. At “The Walled Off Hotel” each room has been decorated by a well known artist including Banksy himself.
In September of 2017 the hotel opened a “gift shop” that sells “souvenirs”. Typical wares for tourists like coffee mugs, t-shirts, postcards and key chains can be purchased. But also they are selling authentic pieces of art by Banksy. Specifically, the “Banksy Box Set”, an “uncertified Banksy art print accompanied with a chunk of concrete. Now housed in a locally made frame as every ikea in the region has run out.

NIS 575 each, available in store only”.
Now I don’t know about you, but the prospect of owning an authentic Banksy is too much to pass up. But the cost of travel, lodging, food and beverage, lost wages and finally the $150 per piece is almost insurmountable for a working man with a family living paycheck to paycheck. I could save and possibly have enough to travel to the Holy Land in a years time, but the hotel as a temporary art installation ends in January 2018. So that means I have only 2 months to travel and acquire the art. Art that will last generations in my family.
So here is the deal. Help me help you! I am trying to raise the funds to finance the trip to Israel and the West Bank. Once there, I will stay in the hotel for a few nights and purchase a number of the works for sale. This is where it gets interesting. By helping me finance the trip, I will also purchase one of the pieces of art for you and have it shipped directly to your address! Now before you ask yourself “why do I care?!” The fact is for a small contribution you can own a piece of work that has already gone up in price..BY. THE. THOUSANDS! That’s right. It will probably be worth over double any contribution you make, starting at $2,000. Plus you won’t have to travel there to get one, and the cost of the flight and stay would be spread out over all of the contributors in this “project”. Finally you will have my personal guarantee that you will receive an authentic Banksy, an investment that will only go up in value! Rest assured, in 5 years it will be worth $10,000 or more. I'm sure you will all be aware of the escalating violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State which has forced hundreds of thousands of people from their homes, including many Rohingya refugees who have fled to Bangladesh, fearing for their lives.
There are now more than 500,000 Rohingya people who have crossed the border into Bangladesh and unknown numbers remain displaced in Myanmar.
Those fleeing to the border have walked for miles, and for days on end. They have no money for food or shelter and with limited medical facilities, people are sick and at risk of serious disease.
I know it's hard to conceive how any donation, short of a Bill Gates' sized one, could make any difference when so many are impacted by these events but with people in need every day even the smallest of donations can make a large impact.
To this extent I am putting up a Walled Off Hotel Boxset for auction - Starting bid £500; the highest bidder on Sunday 3 December at 9pm (BMT) becoming the owner of the much sought after boxset - photos to be posted later today.
Payment will be posted to the DEC website and confirmation of the payment will be posted here soon after the end of the auction.
