How does full bleed framing work? , by Jaylove on Oct 7, 2017 14:09:36 GMT 1, Was talking to a framer and he said that in order to full bleed frame the print, the print had to be glued to the board to keep it flat. Is this true? I typically float or get prints matted but I had one in particular that I wanted full bleed and am now reconsidering because glueing he art to a board will kill its value.
Had always thought that the spacers or frame is what secured the work.
any help is appreciated.

Never heard of full bleed framing but i presume you mean framed all the way to the edge so a 50x70cm print fits within a 50x70 frame. Definitely doesnt need to be glued, a spacer will hold it in place maintaing the distance between the glass. The spacer should cover about 3mm of the print all the way round and will have enough pressure to keep flat. I've many framed that way and zero glue involved!

How does full bleed framing work? , by iamzero on Oct 7, 2017 14:25:42 GMT 1, At the very most the print needs a couple of t hinges at the top that fold over the under mount to hold it in place, this means the spacers don’t have to press to tightly on the print allowing it to move with humidity.
