POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by Lunch Special on Dec 29, 2017 17:26:13 GMT 1, They should reduce everything that's left to £50 and be done with it What a great idea! Devalue the artists work by liquidating the same work they put all the effort into.
Nice one, and i don't mean it from a resell stand point but from an artists value in the market. Meaning, allnthe work they put out later will be compared to the devaluation of works from pow.
Not the best idea now is it.

If a store liquidates their products because they're closing down, it doesn't mean tha'ts now the standard price of that product.
Liquidation tends to mean items will be marked down. What will they do with the remaining stock? What benefit would that be to the artist?

I believe returning the work to the artist could or would be the best option allowing the artist to do whatever and what not, but a print house liquidating art by multiple artists doesn't sound bad to you at all? What do you do for work? Maybe a comparison of sorts is in order

Now sure they can send the items back to the artist to do whatever they want with them but it will just sit most likely. So does the artist really win here? Maybe an artist can provide their input on this.

What do you do for work? Maybe a comparison of sorts is in order You seem to be missing the part where these prints have sat on the website for years. The market has spoken. The market does not speak on behalf of the artist my friend. Devaluing artwork made by an artists is just wrong, How don't any of you see it? Or is it just the idea of buying prints for less to resell later for more? Would you only buy art from an artist you like if the art was less expensive? I just dont understand the way so called collectors and art lovers or aficionados can say, drop it to 50 pounds and be done with it.
I think the best thing POW could do is remotely start printing unlimited soup can posters until they reopen in 2019 then how would all the people paying upwards of $400 feel after that?

What do you do for work? Maybe a comparison of sorts is in order You seem to be missing the part where these prints have sat on the website for years. The market has spoken. That's what I was getting at. If anything this sale has helped some of the lesser known artists get some exposure from people who were willing to buy just about anything just to be part of the frenzy. Now if their stuff aint selling then clearly the market is not interested at that current price. I'd tell any artist that is still remaining that they'd be silly to NOT have the price of their work reduced. Maybe not 50 pounds but definitely a discount.
It's like "Bro, you have 4 sales since 2014..drop the price"

I think the best thing POW could do is remotely start printing unlimited soup can posters until they reopen in 2019 then how would all the people paying upwards of $400 feel after that? At this juncture I don't think anyone is trying to flip any of the stuff remaining. As someone has said, the market has spoken, they are not interested at the current price levels. If the artist wants the remaining stock shipped back to them to sit in an attic somewhere, then fine. That's on them. But, liquidation sales do not devalue. It is understood what a liquidation sale is.
I'd take a flyer on some of the art there at a cheaper price.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by chevyav53 on Dec 29, 2017 18:23:01 GMT 1, There are some folks trying to resell but don’t think people are buying these, except Soup Cans, to resell. You can see some of these prints such as the Penny and Lush pieces on eBay. But they are sitting so if you want to flip you’re not paying attention. You can actually get some cheaper than on POW now.
Curious for the artists, what hurts an artist’s feelings/ego more, seeing their work sit in storage for years or making it on a wall even if at a discount from where they or the Gallery thought it should be priced at?

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by ctc2 on Dec 30, 2017 1:36:27 GMT 1, I could easily see that in 10, 15, 20 years there being a demand for all POW prints as it was a moment in time. Of course I could see them being worth nothing as well.
